How did you go about learning filter design? Electrical engineering school?Architeuthis wrote: Fri Apr 16, 2021 7:46 am http://www.elanhickler.com/transfer/Sou ... _Rev_3.mp3
Hope to get the new plugin uploaded tomorrow.
I'm not 100% happy with this filter, it needs better bass response and gain compensation, I think I tried to do too much with this filter, and to improve it would require going back to the drawing board. I learned a bit more about filter design so I can take this knowledge for my next attempt.

I'm going to release this silently (not update the front page) because I forgot that I need to get a mac up and running to do mac builds.
DOWNLOAD UPDATE (windows only): https://www.elanhickler.com/Soundemote/ ... 2.0.1.vst3
I added Rev3 filter and an option in the menu to bypass clipping.
I was doing some tests and listening to Rev1 [Clean], Rev3 is different, and actually Rev1 turns out to still be useful.
I'm a bad person to ask about how to learn filter design. Apparently people read this thing: https://www.native-instruments.com/file ... 2.0.0a.pdf
I haven't read it and the way I design filters is brute force experimentation and I don't know what I'm actually doing, but there's no pdf that teaches you how to make a filter that is bubbly / chaotic / self-interacting, or a filter that has frequency-dependent downsampling grunge, which I have been able to do, so... *shrug*

Has anyone tried the new download with Reaper? I installed the new version above (2.0.1.vst3) in an existing Reaper project in Windows 10. The new Flower Child filter appears briefly (larger window than the previously installed x64 dll) but it immediately causes Reaper to crash. I've included the Administrative event below. Is there anything else I should capture?

That really sucks. If anyone else gets a crash let me know.
So, I was also thinking about releasing the final version of Flower Child with the current models, basically removing Rev3, the current filter models are decent and I need to consider a whole new product if I want to make another generation of filter models with another design philosophy.

Is it still stuck in the "dev thinks it's not good enough"-cycle?

It‘s been 3 months, I figured it would be nice to have a little status update.
I think those filters are both pretty stable and sound fantastic. No need to further delay the release and certainly no need to start from scratch.

FabFilter's Volcano 3 release reminded me to check out this thread again. Any news?

I hope there is some news, this thing sounds sick. I went to d/l some time back and the website was only http, so I skipped. Website seems https now, so I'll give it a try.bmanic wrote: Mon Nov 22, 2021 6:38 am FabFilter's Volcano 3 release reminded me to check out this thread again. Any news?![]()
Just put out a windows version of this filter and start charging - and update for new filters, new filter models and Mac/Linux later
The website is down though at the moment, and seems to have lost the menu for it's products.
I really hope this project can get continued - it sounds really fantastic!

Ahh damn hadn't checked yet..
In case it does help you (prob not);
The 1st page of this thread has a working MAC/WIN 2.0.0 version
see page 3 - 01 Mar 2021, 04:18 version 2.0.0

so, some d/l links do exist at the top of the home page - just no link to the product pages - though it might be possible to find them via google etc...Hettoblaster wrote: Mon Nov 22, 2021 10:17 am

I'm not dead guys, ok kinda dead.
I'm talking with an "old friend" who might be able to polish the code, that's been the hang up. It's like the difference between an anti-aliased oscillator and not. You can't sell a subtracive synth with ugly aliasing oscillators.
Edit: Oh, well the bigger problem has been that the audio demos I made for the filters were uncomfortably difficult to make. I think it's the lack of polish, the sweet spots are difficult to hit, you just end up spending too much time on tweaking to get the perfect sound. I want a synth that is easy to use and just slaps every time.
I'm not giving up. I've had a lot of personal life issues which also slowed things down. But I'm not leaving this plane of existence without bringing my ideas to the world, they are absolutely worth it.
