I have a dry audio track and version that has been sent through a Convolution Reverb. Can I recover the Impulse Response file used to Convolve it?

Is there such a tool / plugin / algorithm?

I never tested this stuff, but it is called Deconvolver. One of the examples is Voxengo Deconvolver, another one seems to be no longer available for download, but maybe someone has an archival version of it. It is mentioned here https://web.archive.org/web/20150619180 ... -programs/

This is very common, and how a lot of impulse responses are made; you can get a cleaner IR by deconvolving a long sine sweep than by recording a balloon pop. Certainly it is the standard practice for capturing guitar cabinets.

The REAPER convolution reverb ReaVerb includes a tool to deconvolve an IR from given input and output recordings.

Thank you SO MUCH for pointing me in the right direction ... I am happing IR'ing away using Reaper / ReaVerb!!

Dry + ConvolutionWet => IR File -- Does such a tool exist?
