But to counter, I had thread a month ago called "Ohm Force Freakout". It got 457 views and heralded 6 replies (one of which was me). Most of my other threads went to at least 2 pages on less views.vurt wrote:it's about the thread title not when you post

I've found that judiciously timed (shameless) bumping gets the most value. So for instance post in the morning, bump in the afternoon if no replies. That should get at least one reply. Try to reply to every post with a delay, functions as a bump, albeit slightly less shameless. Never shamelessly bump more than twice. If no one replies, just let it die. You could always rework the tune and start a new thread (Hey I've fixed this, check it out).
Also benefits you to comment frequently on other people's tracks. Encourages quid pro quo.
It seems silly to lay out a strategy, but if you're posting to get more people to hear your stuff and get some help from talented others, you have to be dedicated.
Cheers,
Steve

Yeah, but if your thread titles are in a sarcastic reference to yourself, you're gonna get alotta peeks inside & ppl aren't gonna be pissed you tricked em, like the ones I called 'Sickle's Crypt' or something like that..
Now that I mention the crypt..I think I have something laying around here...

Is it "bumping" when people do this:shamann wrote:I've found that judiciously timed (shameless) bumping gets the most value. So for instance post in the morning, bump in the afternoon if no replies. I'm never sure what that means. I see PHz do that every now and then. But I get what you're saying Steve. TBH, I've never been lured so much by equipment name-dropping. I don't have most of the gear people around here seem to be so fond of. And I'm more impressed by how someone uses what they use rather than if they use it at all. I admit that I usually check out stuff by I people I recognize or respect. And I almost always respond when I listen to a song someone posted.
Sicklecell666, I've wondered: is there any racial component to you nick? I don't mean to imply that you've said or suggested anything offensive... I guess I'm just overly sensitive to the connection to sickle cell anemia... Please don't take my query the wrong way. It's not meant as anything more than a question.

Nope nothing racial at all, just a very fast combination of word & numeral to get a screen name 6 years ago..I think at that time I was convinced if 'Evil' existed, it was on a micro-biological level, hence the reference. You™ wrote:

*Bumps* are applied to a thread to get it back on top of circulation. Bumping threads is a fine art.

Ah, got it. I believe "evil," like "good," is an anthropomorphism. It has about as much relevance to the *real* world as interpreting faces in clouds or half-eaten (and really expensive!) stale sandwiches.Sicklecell666 wrote:...Nope nothing racial at all, just a very fast combination of word & numeral to get a screen name 6 years ago..I think at that time I was convinced if 'Evil' existed, it was on a micro-biological level, hence the reference...
BTW, Have you seen ash jesus?
So writing a good song (that's the hard part), employing an in-joke, some name-dropping and posting on Wednesday eve-Friday should do the trick, right? And some judicious bumping to keep the thread warm...

The [...] is a place marker for a smiley. So for instance you or I might post a reply that was just:
