Lovely emotive piece
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently now an 'elderly' so maybe I forgot!

I like the opening piano, and when the cello comes in, and the whole song. The evolution of the melodic pattern worked for me. Beautiful.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

ChameleonMusic,
Sounds like a real cello to me, though I have never played one. Very nice audio quality per usual. And very nice melodies per usual. Nice job!

Thanks for the listen and feedback... Much appreciated.
Yeah, there is just the one basic melodic pattern in the cello part throughout... Just lots of twists, turns and variations... Well spotted!
Same with the piano really... Everything that follows is developed directly from the opening solo piano bars.

Classical forums... Bloody minefield of arrogance and narrow-minded ignorance to navigate...tomtom1 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 5:50 pmthat's definitivly true. i can remember listening to a performance of the violinist Gitlis when he was already an old man - the intonation was (judged absolutly) horrible, but the whole performance was somehow heart moving and captivating - that in the end it didn't matter that much. in a live performance you can watch the players, you feel and hear the room ambience, the other ppl breathing, there is much more sound going on - which is flowing to your ears.ChameleonMusic wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 5:22 pm I think part of the issue is the predictable highly accurate tuning that exists in the virtual world...put a few notes slightly 'off' and they might well stand out more than in a 'live' instrumental solo where the tuning is very good overall, but less regular and not 100% predictable?
btw. what classical forums do exist out there? i have really no idea what is going on in the web...
There are 1000s out there with different areas of focus... Musicology, composition, performance, being a total dick etc etc...
I only use a couple via trusted private friends and sub groups... Never bother going fully public with music any more as it always causes arguments that I can't be bothered with!
Last time I did, I got into a huge row with a Professor of Music at the University of California... Idiot had no idea what he was talking about... Outside his experience and area of knowledge, but it's hard to explain to someone like that that they're full of shit without being insulting
I really tried so hard to explain nicely for about 3 days and then just lost it when he started being utterly rude crude and arrogant...
Admittedly, calling him an 'ignorant, uneducated fuckwit' was probably slightly harsh in hindsight!

I was in that one ning one, Composer's Forum for a brief time. It was essentially KVR with deluded aspirations
wait
I remember the first 'master class' in composition in school. For one thing: someone said '#9 chord' and the professor of it goes, 'there is no such thing as a #9, it's a major/minor chord'. Credibility right down the tubes.

Right, the technical and correct term is "Overeducated shithead".

Oh My Goodness! Nothing more to say. This is so beautifully sad... it gives me goose bumps and drags my thoughts right into it...
Sigh I wish I have 10% of your talent.
Could you possibly try to add Lucy's Voice of emvoice!? Like "Since you left me, all my happy days are gone"? Maybe I find some time and sketch what I mean ...

Nicely done. I'm probably never going to be much in the mood for this kind of thing but it sounds really good.
I coveted that piano library for a bit. The cello sounds cromulently cello-y. A nice tone, I see why you did the verb but it does not suit the close piano image in the usual way. I would get really sick of that patch but her *tone* is captured superbly

Quite beautiful stirring up feelings of longing and nostalgia.
Random observations:
* I was a little surprised by the brief pauses which grabbed my attention and also made me a tad uncomfortable.
* I didn't expect it to end where it did. I was expecting a more "conclusive" sounding ending.
Brilliant work as usual!
