FXpansion’s BFD Acquired by inMusic

Hi Drew,
At this point, I'm just happy that you're keeping BFD alive. If you could, however, would you be so kind as to straighten out the Zildjian Digital Vault Z-pack, Vol. 1 issue as well? I haven't tried a registration yet with that as I don't want to see it disappear for use altogether. Jancivil notes that the serial number of her version of Zildjian DV Z-Pack, Vol. 1 begins with "BF" (her version ported in seamlessly after migration and is available for use in BFD 3.4) rather than "ZLZP1" like my edition does. Remember also, I had a weird situation happen where FXP License Manager updated (really "down"-dated) my version of BFD Drums' BFD 3.4 back to FXP BFD 3.3.1.33. I'm clueless as to why this was even possible, but BFD 3.4 seems to be gone (though it definitely shows up in BFD Drums' License Manager). All this conspires to produce in me a distinct feeling of trepidation where registration is concerned. Any suggestions as to happen to fix these issues are welcome, of course.
Thanks much, Drew!
Dan

Nothing has disappeared in my FXP License Manager (everything except the aforementioned Zildjian DV Z-pack Vol 1, BFD1/2, and Manu Katche snare are in the BFD Drums License Manager, I think). I'll keep an eye out for any changes. Thanks, jancivil, for this comment; it was good to be reminded of this.

I was needing to reinstall everything anyway when the new update happened, as I had never installed BFD on this new system yet, so I'm not complaining about the update or the move to a new site, but holy Jeebus BFD is a complete mess to try to get running. All the older packs only install samples, and you gotta do a lot of manual file moving and importing kits just to get your stuff set up. this is NOT a new issue, it was just as horrific when I installed it a couple years ago. nobody can figure out some way of converting those kit and preset files as part of the install process? I've got a bunch of other sample libraries, drum and otherwise, and none of them are as messed up as this. I love the sound, and the features of the plug, but getting it working is an enormous PITA. *rant off*

Would it be a good idea to either merge the two BFD threads or create a new one to discuss the installer issues? Asking for a friend.

I just posted this message at gearspace or whatever it is this week: I tried to migrate to the new BFD License manager but it crashed and burned... first off it would not accept the email or password that I have been using since I first purchased BFD 1! I had to create a new account and when I did, it would not accept my serial numbers... I think I'm going to stay clear of anymore updates until this is figured out....

It may be (EDIT: a near certainty) that you need an account at inMusic. I didn't have one at "BFD Drums" dot com when I installed and authorized the update, or connect the authorization for the expansions but it all starts with inMusic dot com now. The new LM has naught to do with fxpansion. And BFD Drums has fully taken over the expansions if my account is any indication; it's all removed. The applications still live there at fxpansion for now.

I’m glad I saw these threads before I reacted to the email. I’m waiting for this to be fixed up before I try the new system and update.
I am glad to see the progress though, BFD is alive and things are moving ahead.

Well, I had the one showstopper of the keychain demand, it would not take the password it in fact wants. It did the next day, with a system mostly clear of all related things. It works now. I have not noticed a poorer performance out of it (it loads more FX), and this in a project where any real extra strain would tend to be noticable. In a larger VE Pro project it makes quitting, or deleting all instances, hang. A smaller project doesn't. Instantiating it anew in an already standing VE Pro project does_not force the keychain item, which occurs the once the first instance of.

Please forgive me if I am misunderstanding the process you're describing.
Make sure your inMusic user account and FXpansion user account both have the same email address before you migrate or you'll end up like me, with BFD3.4 in one account and my former expansions in another account. (I was upgrading from Eco so I never had BFD in my FXpansion account.)
My guess is that this is because the new licenser does not use your user information from FXpansion. It can't. It's a licenser for inMusic/BFDDrums products.crescentmoon52 wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:44 pm first off it would not accept the email or password that I have been using since I first purchased BFD 1!
Did you do the migration process? That will transfer all the valid products from FXpansion to inMusic. It also changes the serial numbers in the process. It's not longer a serial number for an FXpansion product.crescentmoon52 wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:44 pm I had to create a new account and when I did, it would not accept my serial numbers...

Surely there must be consensus by now...

Just checked: it changes the BFD3 serial number as well.
So for the guy with the Zildjian Vault product, that's an orphaned serial number BFD Drums dot com owes you. I noticed yesterday looking at this the first part of the serial numbers are designed like mnemonics, BFZV for that one so thought probably all was new, because I never saw anything but abstraction before. It only follows that the migration process - which copied over all of my settings from anywhere to a new home - changes over to the new vendor's auth system.

I may have missed the answer to this, so apologies if so.
I'm a long term BFD customer (BFD 1 and 2 - I even sold an old Pulsar card to one of the fxPansion guys when they were based somewhere in, I think, EC1 or EC2!), and have just taken advantage of the BFD 3 upgrade.
When our BFD 1/2 libraries are made available to us (eg. London Sessions), if I open a kit I've previously built in BFD 2 using BFD 1/2 drums, will the drums from the BFD 3 versions of be available and loaded correctly, or will I need to re-build the kits within BFD 3 using the BFD 3 versions of the drums?

Most kit pieces will match up except for a few percussion pieces and cymbals
