I only have DrumComputer on my ipad, still waiting for it to dip to £50 territory for pc, but I do really like it. Because the XO sequencer is so limited it never even occurred to me to want to use it to trigger anything else.

Yeah, XO's Space (browsing & sample import) capabilities + DrumComputer would be a dream product.

DrumComputer $79 (£57) at Best Service right now is surely tempting and I do have a few BestCoins.

I think I’ve tried buying from them in the past and got blocked as I’m in the uk.

I see. Too bad Time+Space does not have Sugar Bytes (have good loyalty points there, and of course great option for UK people). I am not in Europe/UK/US and find T+S and BS as great options for me.

Sorry for bumping the thread, but wanted to check with others about a slightly weird change(/bug?) regarding XO.

Yesterday, I ran the XLN Online Installer and there was an update to XO. All fine and dandy, but after running the update I noticed the XO icon in Windows had changed to... something I cannot even identify. What is that even?

Anyone else also seeing this?

It’s from Cotton Juce, part of the programming framework. I think they forgot to alter this for release....

“An intermediary, proprietary C++ layer consisting of a framework developed by the company on top of JUCE, nicknamed ”Cotton”. This layer includes functionality like low-level graphics, digital signal processing (DSP) and handling the file system. In addition, Cotton is designed to be as generic as possible and acts as a Lua interpreter for all the products developed by the company”

Interested to know what the XO update was as their support page still says the most recent official release is version 1.2.0 from June 16 2020.

Yeah, went to the website hoping to get the change history, but there is none mentioned for 2021 even though it got two minor updates recently.

I am waiting for XO 2.0.

If it’s just some compatibility stuff and no enhancements I’ll not bother either

Great thread. I really like XO a lot, but encounter the same hurdles in the sequencer.

What I do currently is use Ableton in Session view and step sequence my kit and then solo the drum part, render (it will only render the solo'd drum in this case) and then drag that into a scene in ableton. I really like this, especially for when I want to make a part with a new fill. The annoying part is that you can only make a 4 bar pattern with the AAAB option and I really prefer 8 bar scenes when possible. So if I have a tom fill that I only want to play once, too bad, it is going to play twice. So I deal with it until I get into the arrange mode in Ableton and then chop it out.

What makes it ultra annoying is that I like the feel I get out of the sequencer once I dial in the swing and shift some parts FWD or back. It's very fast.

I keep reading about Drum Computer and really love that sequencer but prefer the sounds of my samples for most work. A few of you mentioned sequencing XO with that program or dragging the samples into Geist.

I guess I need to read up on this more and see if it is possible. Ableton is really great for sequencing drums too, specially now that they added a random feature, so maybe ill just find the samples in XO and drag them into a simpler..Kind of a grey area to figure out. I just really value good feel once I get my samples and XO does provide that part of the equation.

Coming from MPC, I have dozens of drum kit programs that I often like using. Does anybody know if there is a way to import an MPC program kit into XO. I know I can search on sound names in XO space to isolate similar samples but it is an awkward process.

You can drop a folder on the space and it'll show samples from inside it.

I wonder if Atlas 2 will essentially leapfrog XO? It looks very XO-like with its map, but looks to have quite a lot of extra stuff too.

Find myself hoping XLN have something up their sleeves for XO.

Wow! Looks pretty impressive now.

XLN better have something planned for XO indeed. It's been a year it hasn't got any significant update. Let's DM the Atlas 2 webpage on their Instagram.

It looks better than it did, but again the sequencer looks limited, also seems to assume 4/4 and I can't see any sign of my #1 requested feature for the next version of XO, some way to define round robins.
