Better, but still, 79 bucks for such a simple synth? I don't think I could justify that when so many people are suffering these days.

Tal's synths all seem to cost 61 euros (incl. VAT), even their Mod, which is endlessly more flexible than the Juno, and also sounds very good.
(Funny thing I just noticed when checking the Tal prices: I put the U-NO-LX in the cart first, went back then added the Mod to the cart instead. But the U-NO-LX was still in the cart as well and it showed a generous discount for both just because I was going to buy more than one plugin.)

I used to own a few, and that's one reason why I bought the plugin.
That makes sense. Fair enough.

or any basic subtractive synth
I would disagree.

As an example, decades ago, the very first synths I owned were a Juno-106, a JX-3P and a Poly 800. They're all subtractive synths. They were all different sounding, and no, I could not recreate the exact sounds of the Juno on the JX-3P or the Poly 800.

People have been suffering since the beginning of time.

That's not gonna stop me from buying any new gear.

Possibly my favorite 80s Roland, and at least to my ears, trickier to pin down with Diva or other VSTs, than the 106. Not enough demand for the JX-3P, for a company (Roland cloud and UVI sample-based stuff aside) to do a dedicated, high-quality VST emulation of that?

Ableton / Windows user here. As mentioned earlier, the GUI gets very low res / blurry when enlarged.

Why is that?

It’s spoiling my enjoyment up to now (but it does sound great)

Going to fire off an email to softube support about the resizing issue.

not sure if you were joking, but avoiding buying plugins won't help people who're suffering, unless you have exactly 79$ which you were planning on donating to charity and by buying Model 84 this money won't longer be available for donation.

if you're like me and many other people here, buying plugins will just ease your own suffering (from GAS and other elements in life) for a few days.

I haven't used or touched one in ages, but yeah, I quite liked the JX-3P. I also had the little programmer box for it.

I wouldn't be surprised if some companies would release their own versions eventually (besides the Roland Cloud version). Just look at how many Jupiter 8, Juno 106 emulations that exist. I think that some companies will eventually come around to it.

I did try the Roland Cloud version a while back briefly and thought it was ok, but very CPU heavy.

I found that the left hand side of the GUI got chopped off after resizing. I had turned off OpenGL inside the Plugin but it didn't help. Wrote to them a few days ago but have not heard back. Windows 10. Live 11.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

Unfortunately still much too expensive for what you get imo.

Again, you're thinking in terms of emulations of specific synths, instead of thinking in terms of sounds that a VST generates.
You're arguing just for the sake of it. Taking your point to the N'th degree (your statement: thinking in terms of sounds that a VST generates), there's about 20,000 stand alone software synths you can compare Diva to :dog:

Just get a synth because you like the sound of it or not; you don't have to compare it to anything. Buy it or not on it's own merits :ud:
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

I have the Boutique JX-03 hardware which I like. Probably a bit more expensive than any likely software emulation.
