I hate my track for about a week after it's ready!fese wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 5:52 pm https://soundcloud.com/formfisch/fese-osc-146-sinmad
My contribution to this months challenge. An uptempo pop song, 150bpm in c minor (mostly)
Created with Cubase and its internal plugins.
24 instances of Sinmad
Freeware plugins: FirComp, Analog Obesssion Fiver, Tupre, Britpressor, Rare and LALA, IVGI2, ChowTape, OrilRiver, MSED.
Does this happen to anyone else? In the beginning, after having sketched out the track with a lot of copy+paste, I am rather enthusiastic about it and think it's the best thing I've done so far, but after having it done "properly", played all the parts and mixed it so it's ready to upload, I start to notice the mediocre sound choices, the flaws in the arrangement and the sucky mix...
But overall, I think that's why a lot of people at the stage where they think their track is finished leave it for a day or two to hear it in a new way.

Well, I understand you. Since November 2019, I have been trying to make a track every month, but only submitted 5 times, everything else is in the "abandoned" piggy bank.
The only thought that comes to my mind in connection with all this... it's better to do something simple than do nothing. Any experience is an experience. Everyone just does what they have enough time, skills and desire for in a given month, because in addition to the competitive element in OSC, you can just get very good feedback and new skills!)

Same here ... but you should emphasize on the positive feeling of "I am rather enthusiastic about it and think it's the best thing I've done so far". I feel with you. For me music is a hobby. I love to nerd around with all my toys and get into a feeling called the "flow". Often I think I rather create music for this "flow" thing not for the final result... I mean, music will never be my profession ... but I'm kind of a nerd personality and love to use technology to create something and enter the flow ... And after the track is submitted, I say to myself ... next time it't going to be better, because I want to try this and that. But obviously it's again because I want to enter the flow...MalToné wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 4:27 amUh, you just described my workflowfese wrote: Sat Apr 24, 2021 5:52 pm Does this happen to anyone else? BTW: I listend to an interview of one of my favorite bands (german electronic avant-garde band "Deine Lakaien"). They said - It's important to have a unique thing to your music, otherwise you only be a epigone ...every track you do, it's a step towards your unique style. So don't be disappointed. It's just one small step towards whatever is there for you.

I want to start a second project (not for OSC obviously). I was wondering if anybody has any ideas/advice about choosing a second name?

Not that I'm especially well suited for this type of advice, but I think you'd want to tailor your name to the genre you intend on fitting in to? For example, Xilent who is known for glitchy dubstep seems to have rebranded himself Tokyo Machine to make more dance-focused music. And I saw NGTHMRE give a talk and mentioned picking that name because he was going for the trappy-heavy sort of sound.Spring Goose wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 4:43 pm I want to start a second project (not for OSC obviously). Thanks z.prime. I'm thinking chill/downtempo/dub/electronica for the 2nd project, but i haven't a clue what to call myself!z.prime wrote: Sun Apr 25, 2021 5:57 pmNot that I'm especially well suited for this type of advice, but I think you'd want to tailor your name to the genre you intend on fitting in to?
