Any DAW feature hardware controller locks?

Is there a DAW out there that allows a hardware controller to lock to an instrument or fx? For example take a Nektar Panorama P1 or Akai LPD8 controller mapped to the X/Y pads on Zebra2. And have this stay that way regardless of which instrument or fx has focus or which preset is selected. IOW treating that connection like a permanent hardware controller for that device (until you state otherwise of course).
Second question is if this is possible, is that state something that can be saved as a preset?

Bitwig and Live definitely have a feature to overwrite scripted controls, so e.g. if - in Bitwig - normally 8 knobs control 8 remotes on currently selected device, one can "lock" them to specified parameters (that don't have to be on one device - just any 8 parameters in the project) and 'overwrite' the automatic mapping.UncleAge wrote: Mon Apr 26, 2021 5:52 amIs there a DAW out there that allows a hardware controller to lock to an instrument or fx?
Such a locked mapping is saved with project, not with (device) preset.

One more quick question... Are there scripts in Bitwig that will automatically map a controller to that device pages so that every time I pull up an instance of that instrument the controls are mapped? Or do I have to map hardware to the device pages each and every time?

Yes, most scripts work like that. The default 'MIDI controller + 8 knobs' setting does too, provided the knobs send CC #20-27 (or #21-28, don't remember now).UncleAge wrote: Wed Apr 28, 2021 3:42 amOne more quick question...
