Hello, I just upgraded to free version of Loopcloud (6). The app rescanned my samples folder, as advertised, to get the info for AI. Then when i restarted the app i noticed that it is not scanning for new samples and folders, like it did in the past in previous versions.

When i click on add samples i am greeted with the subscribers options. Am I missing something or is it a new policy of the Loopmasters?

I already had difficulties finding the download, but you're right it's no longer possible to use as a free sample manager :(

So, while we are on the topic, what are my alternatives now?

Loopcloud have clamped down on the no subscription features this past year. If it stops scanning outside of subscription there is no point keeping it and much less chance of resubbing in the future. I might have to give ADSR sample manager a go, does anyone have any experience with it?

Is it confirmed that adding samples is now subscriber only? What happens to samples you'd added previous to version 6?

I'm waiting for that KVR front page poll to show results that at least 90 % hate subscriptions.

I'll just stay with Loopcloud 5 I guess. Unless there's a way to have both 5 and 6 installed at the same time.

I was in touch with Loopcloud support and I thought I'd paste the answer here.
From Loopcloud 6, free users cannot import new user-content to Loopcloud, and therefore cannot take advantage of the great new AI user-content tagging we've been working on.

Unfortunately Loopcloud is an expensive project to run, and it relies on the constant support of our subscribers to ensure that the technology can continue to be developed, and get better. Because of this we must reward those who choose to stay subscribed to Loopcloud by offering them great subscriber-only features, free plugin giveaways each month, free packs and so on, to go alongside their points + free sounds each month, and give less to those who choose to use Loopcloud for free.

Thanks for doing that. I'm assuming all the loopmasters content you've bought still takes advantage of the new features if you end your subscription? Actually, is there even a free option now? Has anyone found a comparison chart to show the differences between paid and free?

Edit - found this.

What are the limitations of Loopcloud’s free version? -
The free version of Loopcloud still has much of the same great functionality as the paid version. All of your purchases from Loopmasters can be added and tagged, as well as any previous Loopcloud purchases you might have. The free version includes two tracks instead of eight and doesn’t include effects adjustment or the ability to search and download samples individually with monthly points. It doesn’t pitch edited regions or allow users to expand the range of content for the Loopcloud Plugin suite of VST instruments. Free users also cannot import new user-content or use the AI user-content tagging, which is new to Loopcloud 6.

Did not realize this. I have already upgraded and don't have the installation files for Loopcloud 5 :(. Anybody have a copy of Loopcloud 5 they could through my way?

It actually looks like I can still add my own samples, at least to folders on my hard drive that I had already set up with Loopcloud 5, and it will still scan, index and tag the new content. That may be a bug on Loopcloud's which may be plugged in the future. I cannot add a folder that is outside the Samples folder I had already set up prior to Loopcloud 6, but I can move the folder into my Samples folder and Loopcloud will pick it up.

Ooof, nice catch. Any free users out there, get in quick boys because that's not gonna work for much longer!
