You can use a plugin chainer/wrapper, such as Blue Cat Audio Patchwork, or Kush Elements, in order to use their VST2 plugins to load a VST3 plugin.
Thanks for your reply. I remember you build and published the previous version of vst2 earlier, hence my request. Although I understand what you’re saying.

Hello guys, I think I've found a bug. Some time ago, I saved a patch and it used to play just fine in previous versions of Surge, some sort of physical modelling flute thingy, but now it makes the synth clip until you switch to the next patch. I'm not sure what kind of bug it is, but I doubt it is something DAW-related. The synth clips both in Cakewalk and Renoise, so it's gotta be something with the plugin itself. Thanks.

Seems to be caused by the distortion effect in the global FX 2 slot (last one). Will investigate.
Workaround is: bypass that last distortion effect, drag it up to replace it with Reverb 1, then drag it back where it was. Seems to work here.

Yeah we did that in 1.6 but we stopped, since it was not correctly licensed when we did. It would be lovely if there was a way to write plugins with a more properly governed open spec, but still thankful for Steinberg for releasing VST3 under GPL3.

I have updated surge to the latest version, but now all the skins i had are gone. Has new installer deleted them?

ok for some reason when i installed Tek Royal dark skin and Netrunner, they went to bitwigs directory (i dont have bitwig installed nor had it for nearly a year wtf). This is crazy. This happened only after updating to 1.9, had no problems with previous versions.

anyways, very cool update! i like the oscillator updates, tho i noticed the CPU on unison is drasticly increased, just playing few chords with 3 osc x8 unison my cpu is strugling.

Make sure to only install skins in user data folder, not factory data.accessdune3 wrote: Thu Apr 29, 2021 7:23 pm I have updated surge to the latest version, but now all the skins i had are gone. Has new installer deleted them?

I used a context menu in the synth itself which suggests to open skin folder and that's what I did previously when installing.EvilDragon wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 7:22 amMake sure to only install skins in user data folder, not factory data.accessdune3 wrote: Thu Apr 29, 2021 7:23 pm I have updated surge to the latest version, but now all the skins i had are gone. Yep that's wrong, because that would open you in the factory data folder where factory skins are. Always always always just open user data folder and drop anything that's not coming with Surge by default in there.
We'll figure out a better way to deal with this.

"Open skin folder" is more of a developer option really. We'll probably put that one in right-click rather than left-click.

Which oscillator? Modern is a lot more cpu intensive than classic, but classic is unchanged. Unison in sine is about 4x faster in most cases.accessdune3 wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 7:14 am anyways, very cool update! i like the oscillator updates, tho i noticed the CPU on unison is drasticly increased, just playing few chords with 3 osc x8 unison my cpu is strugling.
