i had a hard time getting started with this one (even more so than usual), but finally managed to cobble together something that felt worth uploading. every month i swear i'll begin the next one earlier. maybe next time.

This is my entry, an unpredictable love affair:
https://soundcloud.com/ondes-memorielle ... ove-affair
25 Instances of Sinmad, but only four sounds, as I had to load multiple instances of the same sound for making them MPE playable. 2 Midi tracks played with my LinnStrument. The rest is modulation, layering and an arpeggiator in Bitwig. I loved the unpredictability of the sounds when that feedback matrix was involved...
Additional fx: Dragonfly reverb, Chow Tape Model and a stock limiter.
The track can be used on the Nusofting web site for anything you like...

my entry
https://soundcloud.com/zarf/zarf-prepetition
I made the first draft of this track on the afternoon of the 2nd April.
I just got back to it this evening! Sigh. Love the character and uniqueness of this synth - thanks Liqih, best of luck to you with another cool product!
21 sinmads
Ableton fx
24 Eqs
~20 compressors
couple of limiter
couple of multiband compressors
2 reverbs
1 delay
some utilities
mostly Sinmad delay (which is lovely) and reverb in patches
(and a somewhat rushed headphone mix )
fine to use this on the website if you want to

some thoughts re: Sinmad's microtuning. I like that it's there, but I don't like the implementation. it's limited to 12 note octave repeating scales, it doesn't show more than 1 cent resolution, and it's finnicky to get input things if you're aiming for a particular scale. compound that if you want to retune several different instances to a new scale.
at a bare minimum, I would love to see a few decimal places in the display so I can have precision when I want to. bonus points for loading .scl files so I don't have to do it all by hand, and even better if you can find a nice UI that doesn't restrict you to 12 note scales that repeat at a 2/1 octave.
------
oh, and this piece is CC-BY so you can use it for just about anything. @liqih you are welcome to use this piece for promotional purposes, but honestly I don't think i'll use the synth again unless it eventually develops more options for microtuning and/or MPE compatibility.

Gonna give it another go tomorrow, but once the feedback network breaks then there's no way to bring the sound back even by reloading my host. So I had a good rithm section going and now all those presets just output almost purely silence. Haven't found a way to repair them unfortunately.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

This month feels a little tragic to me. I really liked programming and playing with Sinmad, but unfortunately, I barely got to spend any time with it, and when I did, it crashed Reaper constantly. There were also a couple of "note-on" clicks I was never fully able to get rid of. I did what I could, but it isn't at all what I had in mind, or what Sinmad is/will be capable of doing. I was impressed, and I hope to use it more in the future.

Yeah, sorry, it was bad with Reaper, fortunately now I think I fixed that and make it compatible even with Reaper (and its own bugs). I hope you will enjoy Sinmad 1.0+h.s.j.e. wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 4:12 am This month feels a little tragic to me. The Sinmad microtuning is "octave repeating" because
so far I wanted the possibility to quickly create ethnic instruments.
As per Hindustani, Carnatic, African and Arabic music mostly relies on
variations of the diatonic scale.
And a variation of more that 1 cent hardly matters in this context.
For full compositions in microtonality the best would be indeed
the ability to load Scala files. I may add that feature later.

I give permission for the developer to use this track in any way they like. I sent a PM to liqih saying the same.
This was a really fun synth to work with, it behaved well in Ableton and has loads of features that are great for the OSC as you can get sounds you might not normally get with some synths. The pitch mod on the echo is pretty nice for example.

Stock Effects:

Utility x 6
Echo x 3

That's strange, I had crashes in Reaper up to Sinmad 0.9.8, but it always recovered on reloading.Ah_Dziz wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 3:43 am Gonna give it another go tomorrow, but once the feedback network breaks then there's no way to bring the sound back even by reloading my host. BTW Reaper DAW works best with "smooth seek" enabled, in Seek settings.
Please send me more details about your setup if you wish.
