I'm committed now... I just ordered the powered 48x (48hp) 4ms Pod with up to 50mm of internal depth. Oddly, this is likely overkill seeing that my two front runners for a first module are the QPAS and Mutable Instruments' Blades.

I'm putting the Patching Panda Moon Phase and Schlappi Engineering Angle Grinder filters on a wish list because I love both of them, but they look like the ones I should grow into.

The QPAS and the Blades both look like good first filter options without needing to be replaced later on. I'm definitely okay with supplementing these later on.

I still have to check out WASP, God's Box Humpback, and Steve’s MS-22 Dual VCF Module. At least the box I bought can house all of those with space to spare.

This WASP is the one I kept reading about as being a must-have filter.

Good choice. :tu: Not overkill at all, as it gives you some flexibility without seeming overly 'empty', and screaming to be filled.

The QPAS and Blades will give you a LOT of variety/options to work with, and should compliment each other nicely. Good call. Congrats.

The WASP is pretty much a staple for many (including me) as it (like many filters) has quite a unique character. I only recently found this video, which uses it in a more "musical" sense than many other demos, which just do filter sweeps on a static waveform, usually too fast, like they're cranking the throttle on a moped at a stop light, or something. :hihi:

(plus, I like the sequence. simple, but better than many that are used for filter demos, imho)

Gotta be on account of my Logitec FF steering wheel affinity.
At the price I don't think I can justify it. It seems clever and fun, and oh so shiny for sure :) but I feel like in a practical sense it'd be just a secondary or tertiary controller for me.

It kind of makes me wonder about software to use the Logitech wheel as a MIDI controller though :hihi:

Heh, yeah it's expensive, but ito be fair, it does have 2 processors and a motor, so I don't think it's unreasonable. No doubt it could have been made cheaper, but high quality parts are probably worth the cost here. I do actually have some specific use cases in mind for it in the sound fx realm, as a more general controller I can see it not being worth it, I'm not sure I would have bought it outside
the early bird either though.

He's smart to give the kick starter tons of time and not seek a huge amount of money. I would be
surprised if it doesn't succeed.

no idea what it's for but it looks cool! :o

That helped! I ordered the QPAS. The Blades is out of stock everywhere for now.

I now know that at some point I want the WASP and SEM filters too. Luckily that seems like just a color choice for both and then a space issue later.

I’ll want the MS20 style filters in the future but I see there’s a ton of choices for that. I know that sound so I figure this is a good one to wait until it becomes one I need.

I’m gonna shop for blank plates to keep me from the jumping the gun on other modules. It’s an OCD thing, and I like this plan so far.

i love em, have two!
it does hi/lo and band so i never know if im gonna need hi and lo for example...
as you can hear from the video above, it has a very particular sound, which some may not like, the doepfer sem is another similar priced filter with another character altogether.
you may like both, either or neither :)

couple of nice bits already though, so take your time with them, while doing a bit of video research to see which sounding filters you like :)

The WASP in that video reminds me of an overdriven EP, when playing 2nds. Normally dissonant, but harmonically rich on an EP. I definitely don’t mind that sound applied with a knob turn.

I know you like your SEMs too. It’s been my software go to, so I saved that for last to check out. I’ve wanted a hardware version since I saw you post about getting them (I think in last years similarly titled thread).

yup added the sem and polivoks (erica) last year :tu:

it's nice to have a few flavours, either for contrast on parts in one piece, or you might get bored doing the same bass sounds all the time, different filter is easy to achieve drastic changes :)

i also have the borg, 2 cinnamon (bastl) and qbit prism, which has a digital filter and a comb which is nice too.

have lots of fun :ud:

I love the QPAS. It has a lot of range as a tone shaper, spacializer and resonator. It's neat to self-patch, as well.
It's hard to pick favorite eurorack filters but there are a few which have stayed in my systems longer than others. QMMG (and MMG), Korgasmatron (and Morgasmatron), R*S VCFQ and Plague Bearer.
I tend to run patches through outboard filters as well.

bought: Novation Circuit Tracks.
plamming to buy: at least Oxi One sequencer and IK iLoud MTM monitors.

I got my email about the Oxi One with the intro offers, but I don’t like the “buy now or lose out big time” thing of it all when we haven’t got any reviews back from non shill people over things like build quality and reliability of the final units. Too much of a gamble for my liking.

One thing that has risen up the list is search for a good 61+ key MIDI controller with good action, but preferably not much taller than the keys themselves. Just built a new desk and for once there will be enough room on it to have a keyboard. I may end up going for a second hand digital piano.

Are you safe?
