BX Limiter True Peak vs free version of LVC Limited-Z (not a scientifically accurate test, still interesting to watch)

Whoah, this is quite amazing to read all this, especially what Dirk does personally to people.

I did an honest review of this limiter and the results I got were really shocking and disappointing for me. Bad low end handling, level inconsistencies on release, general hollowness and lack of body.

Somebody posted my vid on this "Plugin Alliance positive fans" or something group and the discussion started. Many people agreed on what I heard and that the limiter is just overhyped. Some were saying that they hear nothing in my YT vid or that my test wasn't fair or was biased somehow.

So, I decided to post the HQ .wav files on my Dropbox with three masters I did with three limiters I was reviewing plus a Cubase/Nuendo session, so everybody could take a listen and dive into things and see that I wasn't joking. What happened next, surpassed my imagination and reality itself.

Some guys actually DENIED that they hear what's there. That the first seconds of the master done with bx_TP is same good as with the others. No artifacting, no distortion, nothing. Some were posting me settings of the limiter that I should use, they said, claiming that these are clean sounding - and I was getting even worse crap. Some people started attacking me on a personal level. And then, yes, Dirk came himself and guess what? He endorsed more attacks, questioning my professionalism etc.

I left the group immediately, being absolutely shocked. I didn't know that Plugin Alliance is funded on things that are, well, not really true, so to say, on somehow passive-aggressive strategies and pseudo-religious cults run by marketing specialists, who learn people not to listen nor think, but just buy and attack anybody asking a fair question. Of course, these are only my subjective opinions on things, stating this just in case.

Plugin Alliance lost it for me. I'm done not only with their limiter, but with all their stuff. I'll slowly make a transition and I'll simply stop using it. I won't tell a word about it on my channel. I'll surely stick to Unfiltered Audio stuff, but fortunately I can buy it from their native website.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I'm not surprised. Pa is not the only audio company that has following cult ready to attack anyone who dare to question their software. I shut my mouth on time so I wasn't attacked by them but what I saw is enough. These companies and their cult are disgusting. It amaze me that adult people in this industry can act like that.
Transitions shouldn't be hard. Recently I checked : I have 33 PA plugin and now I'm using... 2 of them on a daily basis (VSM3 and Blackbox).
There's really nothing special about most of their plugins. Just a lot of hype and marketing.
I don't feel like I'm missing anything by using (often even free) alternatives.
Unfiltered Audio is another story. I hope that they will be able to quit PA one day and they'll find better parent company.

Dirk is a class-A dumbass and it reflects on his cult and his followers, which are more or less in the similar vein.
I sold ALL my PA plugins and refuse to use them.
When i had an encounter there, he approved posts and encouraged people who launched personal attacks over me and banned me from the group (for saying IRON aliases, and for my comparison against plugins of similar functionality that don’t alias). He also had the nerves to piss over Voxengo plugins in that encounter, which considering how bad his support is and what a mixed bag of cluster f**k PA plugins is - is ironic at best.

He’s a toxic borderline personality with immense ego issues and people shouldn’t reward such toxicity with their money.

Re: bx limiter:
- a new plugin without iLok and no M1 support is abysmal
- its the only plugin that bogs down my GUI, and after a brief response from support “it doesnt happen on our system” i got radio silence.

The cultists are so f**king dense that they were justifying Knif’s aliasing as “tube drive”. Everything is just bizarre. Repackaged code and history of halfassed releases wrapped as “game changers”, he’s worse than slate

Any company that does'nt allow fair criticism of their products is very shady in my opinion. That whole 'positive' facebook group dynamic is truly bizarre. Needless to say, I left pretty quickly.

I do like some of their products, but I don't like the guys at the top.

The bx_limiter distorts very quickly even with moderate release times. No profiles or other special settings.
I think the limiter can sounds quite transparent, but it is not meant for more extreme settings. No competitor for the well-known candidates like Pro-L, Limitless, Elevate, Elephant, etc.
As a true peak limiter, I would have liked to see the maximum true peaks, but I couldn't find a display for that.
What I like is the GUI ... but that's about it.

We don't want to talk about the very high price, I think for the regular price of $250 nobody will buy it anyway. I see the limiter more as a track limiter and you will surely be able to buy it under $100 at some point with vouchers or as a flash-sale.

Interesting, because, I though there are pages of criticism about their plugins here and elsewhere.

Also, be careful with statements from involved people who come from such threads or sites. Just that. Be careful with those. Everyone's opinions or experiences are coloured, in some way.

I don't think so
A realistic price would certainly be around $50, but I don't think it will be in the next few months. PA does these "every plugin for $49" from time to time but of course not for just released plugins.
