Hi all,
I hope to showcase some of my work here.
There is a piano album coming up, release date is 5 june.
I will showcase the work here, and hope to get some feedback.
The Wings of time is the first one:
https://open.spotify.com/album/2UslNy8oy1VxHTMCIaVstT
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6RfdAdI3Es
I wrote this first, and had to discover how to even write for piano.
The ending is quite an adventure, and composition wise, it should not even be in there. The work would be stronger without the 6/8 time. But, it was so much fun, so I kept it in.
Here is Air Dance,
https://open.spotify.com/track/6z58t8MC ... c47ccf40d8
Wrote this one originally in 2006 as an etude for myself, but i never actually played it myself yet. Strange how that goes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ_pmnF ... ktfxAmQG8c
Red Leaves is the next one, I always got amelie vibes from it
https://open.spotify.com/track/3K669WS5 ... ca59984c96
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-VmRoI ... 3w3oaFKOkk
and...here is rain waltz!
https://open.spotify.com/album/0Jw86wkO ... epJgbAnm7A
wrote this one for my son Rein.

Oceanide!
preview of the album title track

Waltz of the sad fruit fly

Enjoyed it, but....I'm sure I've heard this one before on KVR?
Anyway, it'll be interesting to see if I say the same things this time if it is a revamp!!!
Melodic content is very strong indeed - catchy, well shaped phrases that stick!
Personally I wanted the left hand accompaniment patterns to change at some point...just a bit of variation in the ongoing texture, but it works as it stands.
Ending - yeah, the change of time signature could be a little bit more fluid, but it works as a sudden lift to end on!
Good listen!

I like this piece, both the composition and performance. Way better than my piano piano pieces
I don't agree with ChameleonMusic on the left hand pattern, in all honesty I can't see how you can play anything better than the pattern right now, except if you want some counterpoint.

the left hand actually changes quite a bit, just not in the rhythm of it.ChameleonMusic wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 4:29 pm Enjoyed it, but....I'm sure I've heard this one before on KVR?

Yeah, it does change in terms of the notes..linked to the underlying chords etc and it stretches and contracts a little bit here and there...I agree 100%, but...Jesse Gorter wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 7:33 pmthe left hand actually changes quite a bit, just not in the rhythm of it.ChameleonMusic wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 4:29 pm Enjoyed it, but....I'm sure I've heard this one before on KVR?

It's just unusual to have the same basic rhythmic pattern just about all the way through a 4 minute piece of this mainstream melodic style. If it was a more minimalist, hypnotic style...fair enough!
I enjoyed the piece as it stands without a doubt, but listening again... still feel that it could've 'grown' even more towards that interesting end section with just a little bit more variation below the excellent melodies.
Is it a 'one shot' live recording by the way...sounds like a natural 'performance' as such rather than something with lots of editing and drawing in of notes etc?

Nice and relaxing, which is just what I needed right now. This was an absolute joy to listen to.

I see what you mean, but I think for this one it is fine to have it keep going like that. The harmony and melody are not very 'out there', or very adventurous, but I do think other pieces will explore that a bit more. For this one, it would disturb the dreamy feelingChameleonMusic wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 7:48 pmYeah, it does change in terms of the notes..linked to the underlying chords etc and it stretches and contracts a little bit here and there...I agree 100%, but...Jesse Gorter wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 7:33 pmthe left hand actually changes quite a bit, just not in the rhythm of it.ChameleonMusic wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 4:29 pm Enjoyed it, but....I'm sure I've heard this one before on KVR?

"The Wings of Time"
I recognised this one from a couple of years ago, but it was so pleasant, I listened to it twice more
It was nicely played and the change from 4/4 to 6/8 worked quite well, but I think it might work better if you went straight from one to the other, but this may not be an option as it was recorded live.

The wings of time: beautiful piano music … restful ambiance with the strong end
Air dance: good soundtrack for cloud video. Airy and light atmosphere. good job.

Wings of Time - obviously a live performance unless I'm seriously losing it?
Air Dance / Red Leaves - I'm guessing that they've been programmed / drawn in at least to some extent?
