Does the real RE-201 saturate as much as Space Delay when its input level is equal to the output level of the instrument? With Space Delay I have to turn down the input (from default 5 down to 2) if I don't want the repeats to sound saturated. Of course then I have to compensate its output level considerably, but Space Delay doesn't seem to have an output level control.
So I made the dumb mistake of buying Space Delay without demoing it. Figured "hey, for $18 there's no way it won't be worth it, their Tapes are excellent." Boy was I wrong! This thing distorts so stupidly much it's not worth bothering with as an insert, and I don't record crazy hot. Yeah, I found I can drive down the input knob like you did, but there's no way to compensate properly. This probably works fine as a send at 100% wet, but I'm not liking how this is calibrated at all. It's not the first T-Racks I've used with this issue, their Neve's are also overly saturated IMO, but I thought they were passed that.

Anyway, lesson learned. Even if it's cheap and the company has been putting out some good products, don't buy.

BTW, Audio Thing's OuterSpace does everything this does and better. Was just hoping for an alternative, but instead I just got a product I like a lot less than the one I already had.
Just wow. When i first time heard character of distortions in Space Delay i almost ready to go buy it for full price (later bought from hands for 60+). That really juice and lively nature of feedback character. Will not say about featureset (it's ok for me though), but by sound it's really cool.
But yes, many tastes 'n' try before buy.

If I want an extra-crunchy delay, at least I know where to go. But yeah, not for me. I'm 100% an OuterSpace/ValhallaDelay guy!

At least it was a relatively inexpensive way to learn a lesson!

They're different enough to get both. ;)
Guess you're right - and it's easy enough to demo since IK Multimedia basically forced me to install it already :D I'll check it out.

I got Tape Machine A80 for 17 or 18 Euro with JamPoints and it's pretty damn cool.

Instead of deleting all the T-Racks dll files that I haven't bought yet, I've moved them to a different directory. Whenever I want to demo one of these plugins, I copy its dll file back to my Vstplugins folder. And if I decide to buy it, then I only need to activate it.

That would probably be the one I'd get too as I use Hornet Tape most of the time with the Swiss 15 ips setting.

So I demo'd it (Space Delay) and it's just... OK. Nothing spectacular. Maybe I'll save my money and stick with ValhallaDelay.

Then I demo'd the Sunset Studio reverb and was quite damn impressed actually. That thing's special. Might have to grab that.

Stealth is fantastic. Very underrated. Actually the T-RackS Brickwall sounds pretty good too on the Advanced 1-4 if you don't push it like crazy.

Well, I bought Space Delay and I personally think it sounds amazing. All the subjective words praising the sounds. UI looks pretty, but interface sucks. Difficult to grab knobs. Lags. No double click to snap to zero. But the sound is great IMO.

Hmm. I thought I tried that. I’m on mac. Let me go check to see if there is any egg on my face.
