c_voltage wrote: Tue May 04, 2021 8:49 pm Just wow. When i first time heard character of distortions in Space Delay i almost ready to go buy it for full price (later bought from hands for 60+). That really juice and lively nature of feedback character. Will not say about featureset (it's ok for me though), but by sound.
But yes, many tastes 'n' try before buy.
If I want an extra-crunchy delay, at least I know where to go. But yeah, not for me. I'm 100% an OuterSpace/ValhallaDelay guy!

At least it was a relatively inexpensive way to learn a lesson!

Guess you're right - and it's easy enough to demo since IK Multimedia basically forced me to install it already :D I'll check it out.

I got Tape Machine A80 for 17 or 18 Euro with JamPoints and it's pretty damn cool.

Instead of deleting all the T-Racks dll files that I haven't bought yet, I've moved them to a different directory. Whenever I want to demo one of these plugins, I copy its dll file back to my Vstplugins folder. And if I decide to buy it, then I only need to activate it.

That would probably be the one I'd get too as I use Hornet Tape most of the time with the Swiss 15 ips setting.

So I demo'd it (Space Delay) and it's just... OK. Nothing spectacular. Maybe I'll save my money and stick with ValhallaDelay.

Then I demo'd the Sunset Studio reverb and was quite damn impressed actually. That thing's special. Might have to grab that.

Stealth is fantastic. Very underrated. Actually the T-RackS Brickwall sounds pretty good too on the Advanced 1-4 if you don't push it like crazy.

Well, I bought Space Delay and I personally think it sounds amazing. All the subjective words praising the sounds. UI looks pretty, but interface sucks. Difficult to grab knobs. Lags. No double click to snap to zero. But the sound is great IMO.

Hmm. I thought I tried that. I’m on mac. Let me go check to see if there is any egg on my face.

I just got this with their ongoing sale and even though it cost me just something like 7€ that was a sad waste of money it seems...

either I am overlooking something or the plugin is an gigantic fail as it is since there's no output control it appears. The only way to maintain unity gain is by adjusting the input gain (which affects both the wet and the "dry" signal.

But since
On the original hardware, overdriving the input affects the tone of the processed signal and is often used as part of the effect.
and this not only goes for the "original hardware" but also this plugin you thus heavily affect the sound of the plugin.

The manual continues to point out that
If a cleaner sound is desired, reduce the input volume below unity and increase the output volume to compensate.
but otherwise does not mention any actually existing "output" [control].

What on earth? If this was supposed to be some joke, it would be a really terrible one.
But as it isn't, there's just no excuse. I already own both the Arturia and the Audio Thing one. The latter has got an actual output-control and while the former doesn't, the drive doesn't affect the dry signal so unity gain can be achieved both by using the wet/dry control and the individual echo and reverb volume-controls.

I noticed this apparent, GIGANTIC shortcoming after about a minute of trying out the plugin. So how is it even possible this is sold as it currently is? (And especially in this day and age when there is so much competition). I just don't get it. What the heck am I missing here?

You have it, it's just broken up into two controls, one for Reverb volume and one for Delay volume. You have a lot of control with the wet/dry mix included, but it's not a simple output pot.

Nope, that won't work at all, since - as I mentioned in my post - the input gain also affects the "dry" part of the signal - if dry/wet is turned fully counter-clockwise (i.e. set to completely dry), adjusting the input control will still affect the plugin's output.

As I said: it's an unbelievable fail. The project-manager of this must have been pretty much comatose during the entire development of it, I'd say...

So how are those Tape collections you can now grab for pretty cheap?

Interested too, thinking of grabbing the reverbs, farm stone room and sunset studios, fame studio reverb and also a tape machine and maybe Bus Compressor..

I just got the Tascam 388 and the Teac 6100 - while my first impression is quite a good one it's still too early to say much about them - but the first Tape-collection is really great. I religiously put the 24 on almost every track.

Most of the T-Racks stuff is just great... and especially the Fame is really wonderful.

Just the Space Delay is pretty much useless as it is.

But I don't understand why would you need to adjust input gain once you've already set it to the desired level? Just control the output gain now, using the 2 volume knobs?
Also, if you're setting the dry/wet knob fully counter-clockwise and 2 volume knobs as well fully turned down, what's the point of loading the plugin itself?
I'm sorry, not trying to come off as rude, I'm just confused lol

I myself am interested in the newer Tascam tape machine collection rather than the older ones. Although I have heard only good things about the TRackS tape machines. Reverbs I already like :D

EDIT: I'm looking for plugins that make me cancel UAD Spark, this seems like a good opportunity. Also, looking at Arturia FX Collection. Arturia FX Collection or TRackS 5?
