That looks like a great FX unit. There are a lot of ways to patch it, so lots of territory to explore.
ModDemix is super useful.
You can ping the QPAS with the Mimeophone's clock out, then process QPAS's outputs with the ModDemix and Mimeophone, so you can use that set up as a complete voice.

looks like a nice supplement to the 0s and stregaelxsound wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 4:42 am So possibly new plan...
I was thinking of now using the 48Hp for Mimeophone, ModDemix, QPAS and Rosie.
Keeping in mind this is to supplement 0-Coast, Stega... Is there any downside to adding on ModDemix? I know Strega can do ring mod too, but I really like adding the extra VCA here. I could be wrong, but I think it also ticks off the box as a module that can do more than just 1 thing.
This is what I was thinking (but silver moddemix):
the moddemix is a cool module, very useful for a few things.
the qpas i don't have, but have heard great things about, is tempting but so are so many things i may have a little more space than you, but it's not infinite
mimeophone, well, no words, just this... (mimeophone/clouds/rene)

and a bit longer (morphagene playing ni the giant into mimeohone)...

Well, that's probably because I was editing it when you were posting, to include the 48hp stuff which occurred to me when you first posted your "micro set-up" way back on page 31, but I kept forgetting to point out/bring up.
I can't help but try to 'organize' things to avoid visual overload/confusion (a traumatic brain injury related thing, on top of being profoundly dyslexic/OCD-ish), and the two meris peddles looked about the same width as the Strega, and almost as 'tall', so a two tier rack with those next to one of the MN desktop items, and the other two on another row, would be functional and tidy, and then adding side-by-side 48hp PODs on top or below, would give you a LOT of sound mangling potential.
Yeah, I missed that bit. I'm reevaluating the width of my set-up. I built it at 9U/126hp to have all my Aria Fx's modules lined up in one row, but I am feeling that I should cut back to 104-106hp, and build UP instead. WAY too much having to turn my head just to see it all, and map-out what I want to do.
Maximizing the utility of two 48's, is why I recommended the 'Function' and 'Dynamix', also meant to add the 'Contour'. There are of course hundreds of modules out there, but having a fairly well rounded and versatile "system" going into it, will go a long, long way, towards a gratifying rather than frustrating experience. These three are 6hp wider than one Maths, at 26hp, and bring a lot to the table. Particularly in light of what you already have, and/or intend to acquire.
elxsound wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 7:28 am @Shabdahbriah, That’s a great video. I’ve read the specs and it didn’t click about the bipolar/through 0 modulation. All I knew was that it could be used as a VCA with “colored” or clean sound (depending who was writing about it) and that it could do ring mod.
Exposure to different "presenters" is kinda vital in this Euro-zoo. Helps with making 'informed' choices. I find a lot of the Make Noise 'produced' videos are very wogglebug , tempi, and overly maths dependent, as well as annoyingly moving their hands back and forth constantly while flipping knobs way too quickly, and tapping pressure points spasmodically. If the viewer doesn't have Maths or Wogglebug or Rene', and/or know of alternatives/options, a lot can get lost in the translation.
Yeeeeeeeah, that sounds legit.
(refrains from mentioning the true source of countless mimeophon video posts in "whatareyouwatchingnow", and m.a.y.b.e., here to)
... Those rascals.
That's the cool part! ... as there are "functions" which make so many of these 'utility' and 'character' modules, far more than they appear.
ergo: Contours, "End of Cycle, and End of Onset". Functions, "End of Rise and End of Cycle Pulses. Dynamixs "Mixing, Side-chaining/ducking"... etc. enjoy.

Yeeeah, well... there's 'that', {to}.
The deal with Data Bender was, in that "what does it DO, that I don't already have the ability/capability to do", thing. I have stuff that does a lot if not 'most' of what it does, 2x Aria Scooper, 2x Phonogene, and 2x Echophon. But, the effect it had on (as you pointed out as well) the "melodic" stuff (and several other cool tricks), took it into its own 'must-have' space. (or two).
Diggin' the tracks you posted up there ^^^ mimeophone is just so awesome. glad you are enjoying it/inspired by it. Me too.

cheers, just quick "test" runs with mimeohone, getting to see what modulation gets what fx n stuff.
was sat listening to the karplus strong for hours last night very nice indeed!
data bender, i don't really have anything aside from the freeze buffer in prism, which is a bit more limited, also doesn't have a mix function so that will be handy too, not having to take up mixer slots for wet dry stuttering, as well as a greater range of play and bigger by magnitudes buffer
i mean, i could do it in software, but real knobs and buttons...
and of course clocking together with the patch is likely to get better results than post.

Indeed.
I (tbth), only really ever do "test runs", and love getting lost for hours just listening to the dance of nuances, while making subtle adjustments.
(speaking of prodding the unwary with modulations) ... I was just watching this again.

ah "time travel" mode
not played with it much yet, but did notice a bit of it when id finished the piano one.
lots to explore: including something elx mentioned "mimeophone triggering morphagene".
im assuming clock out to one of the trigger options? definitely try some of that later

For some reason I have yet to be sold on the Mimeophon. I think maybe I am tired of delays, even the fancy analog BBD delays that have been and are coming up lately. Not really doing anything for me. I like filters and unusual stuff. I do like the comb effects, but the Chronoblob 2 can do that very well for me.
Still, it's super cool and my disinterest in it is disappointing somehow.

it's understandable really, depending on what you have/wish to achieve, there are so many cool modules, it's easy to have things covered.pekbro wrote: ↑Sat May 08, 2021 1:12 pm For some reason I have yet to be sold on the Mimeophon. there's loads i feel i should want, the magnetophone whyterabbyt posted about, totally up my alley, even made a similar thing years back from an old walkman (thank you hand made electronic music book).
but there's only so much space in a rack
the diy puts me off these days too, was never great at it, but with my nerves now, not sure if i trust myself soldering

i mentioned prism having no wet/dry...
i should then also mention, rosie does come in very useful for that
