Routing MIDI in Cubase

Hi guys, I know this is a basic question but I can't get my head around it.
I have a VST (Surge) and an Arpeggiator (Stochas). Both open as instruments.
How do I route it so when I play Surge it triggers the arp in Stochas?

Change your input routing on your Surge track to the the midi output of Stochas. Then record enable the Surge track.

Don't "record enable", use "activate monitor".
