Kontakt is way too bloated here. Was thinking more of a small drumsampler/-synth, which can also load EPROMs. The sound utilities from ElectronGate work quite well, but probably need some post-processing.

No doubt.

But anybody who got Kontakt could try loading the images, to see if it works

Sure, I was just curious, if there was another plugin with that feature.

the Aly James VProm is the accompanying VST. It can load eproms

but I read there were some old linn eproms on electrongate that had to be taken down.

I wonder if its still possible to get/buy those sounds, but not for a real linn, just for the VST or for whatever

Yeah, I know. But I wanted to know if there's another one.

Heads up -- some of those aren't sound EPROMS, but EPROMS for firmware updates. That said though, If you use Windows, you can download Promenade from ElectronGate. Failing that, If you have a newer version of Audacity, you can install a Nyquist plug in for a u255 decoder. See here:

Does anyone about an u255 ENcoder?
I used run Promenade through Wine on my Mac, but since Catalina I can’t get that to work anymore.

If I was a tad more clever maybe I could figure out how to run the Audacity Nyquist script in reverse.

Luckily before Promenade stopped working for me, I converted a good batch of my own sounds for use in VPROM.
