Harmonics and Decapitator are two very different beasts. In my humble opinion Harmonics is better suited for more subtle saturation, while Decapitator is better at overt distortion. It can be kinda subtle, but I still find it to be simply too much for some applications. But maybe it's just me. FYI Decapitator goes on sale from time to time. IIRC I got mine for $50 (same for Harmonics, sometimes the price comes down to $50).SonicDimension wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 2:42 pm Softube Harmonics is on sale for $59 this month. Also, Softube Tape is on sale for $49. What do you all think of these two? I've been thinking of getting Harmonics as an alternative to Soundtoys Decapitator.
Cheap saturation plugin

Thanks for the tips! I already have iZotope Trash 2 and d16 Devastor 2, so I'm interested in a plugin that does some more subtle analog-modeled saturation. Harmonics seems like a good option. Toneboosters Reelbus 4 also seems like a good choice for the tape-style saturation (with lots of extra features).itanever wrote: ↑Fri May 07, 2021 7:41 pm Harmonics and Decapitator are two very different beasts. A lot of solutions here. I would add Waves Screamer. My favourite. So deep and not weak.
If you want something creamier, then saturation in
Supercharger XT would do the job.
Trash2, if you have it - use it. It's good.

Got some really nice suggestions. I bought SDRR2, as an upgrade from SDRR2tube that i had it from Presonus. I love this plugin, it can be subtle but also when you drive it hard it doesn't sound bad at all.
I've put my eyes on ReelBus 4 too, maybe wait for a deal since it's not a rush.
I want to thank everyone for the help!

Can't go wrong here. The free IVGI goes along way.
