And yet, I can only think of the Simpson's episode, where Homer bought Marge a bowling ball (with his name engraved on it) for her birthday.
yeah, there is always the worry she will run off with divkid :hihi:

So far I got a Din Sync RE-909, an Electra One MIDI controller, and I pre-ordered a 2600 Gray Meanie.

that's more like it! :tu: a little skiff full of those! the button spacing is better for more "lively" playing :hihi:
I have one and it's super deep, like 64mm. But you could probably replace the switch with a Sanwa or something and it might fit into a deeper skiff (not a regular 4ms Pod, probably).

I like the idea of the Big Honking Button but can't really justify it.

Paradise MIDI does custom work and might be willing to build one with individual analog gate outputs... I've thought about asking them about it.

Yes, the Synthwerks MG-1 is super deep, and usually priced at close to what the 'big honking button' goes for, @$90. I got mine for $25 each in a "while supplies last" sale he had some months ago, and went back to get 4 more within a week, and they were sold out. $90.00+ is tough to justify, unless I were really relying on them as a "performance" tool. (YMMV)

As it is, they are fun, and certainly do have a place in my 'flow', though I am looking into a Hexinverter Électronique Mutant Brain, in the hopes of using my trusty old MPD-32, instead. I will not go the 'disting' route.

Man, that looks like fun... but the same (couldn't justify it). Obviously not a smart choice at this stage (for me), but arcade buttons always look fun.

$25 apiece makes better sense. I wouldn't want the sample playback feature, just the gate and of course the button. At that price, it probably makes more sense to pick up Ears.

That's exactly what I did a couple of years before the MG-1 were on sale. Ears is fabulous, and has jumpers on the back for adjusting attack timings of audio input. :tu:

The thing with the MG-1 that's cool (aside from also having a 1-to-3 mult built in) is that it takes a 'source' and quickly 'switches' it from the default UP output, to the DOWN output, way quicker than a "switch", unless it is one of those really nice 'momentary-paddle' switches, which are pretty-close, but not quite the same.

You guys and your banks of fancy buttons, I prefer my single $650 motorized knob.
Of course, I might consider a motorized button, so I don't have to press it myself.

it is a lovely knob!

You get a Bastl Servo and use it to drive a little robot arm that pushes the arcade button... :D Like a vactrol, but mechanical!

I got the MG-1 for $25 too, but it's been sitting in a drawer for a while. I have room to rack it again but just haven't felt a need for it, and it's less fun in reality than it was in my imagination.

On day one with an MG-1 or the Big Honking Button, I'd just have to loop this section:

Im wondering now if the kickstarter will even succeed. While the interest is there, the cost is working against it. Hardly matters as a fail would save me a bunch of scratch. Tho, i would probably buy it if he decides to go with the orders he does have, like the Foh guy did with the INM.
