vult "Wolv" analog wave shaper...

I've been wanting a Vult module for a while, not really into the digital stuff though. This
one fit the bill for me, even tho it's another pre-order and I have to wait a couple months for it.

Oooo! I keep spacing, and putting off getting the Freak filter kit, but this (being a one-run limited edition) looks worth staying up on. I don't use VCV, but I'm assuming that soon-to-be-released version will get some youtube exposure, by Omri.pekbro wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 10:14 pm vult "Wolv" analog wave shaper...

bring myself to pony up for it. Having something in the rack just because, doesn't really work
for me when I have most of his filter designs in software already. Even if not exactly the same.
I am a big fan of his work in any case.

Yeah, I have all of his stuff in VM also, and know without a doubt that is part of my "do I really need this?", hold-off. Yet, in thinking about it as I typed, there is an experimental Vraids Firmware that puts 2 Braids (Mutable Instruments) into the Freak. Braids has 45 different oscillators and sound sources!pekbro wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 11:10 pmThe Freak Filter was a tough call for me, I have all his stuff in Voltage Modular and can't really bring myself to pony up for it. To celebrate the end of lockdown I bought a new gig bag for my Ibby RR50 V. I've also got an eye on an MIJ Jaguar which plays well but sounds a bit uninspiring and not a patch on a mate's modded Jag. Not sure whether to go for it and then fall down the rabbit hole of new pickups, neck shims and bridge gubbins. I've only just got my head around adjusting a Floyd-equipped thing...

Ladik makes good stuff. That looks useful, and compact.imrae wrote: Sat May 15, 2021 6:27 pm I happen to have also been looking into simple envelope modulesMy shortlist is:
- Ladik C-012 dual up/down lag Interesting dual slew limiter in 4HP; each channel has one speed control and you can choose whether it affects up/down/both. Of course for independent up/down you could use both parts in series.
- NLC Tracky Dacks - 8HP, 1 channel of AR with voltage control and EOC trigger (which allows looping)
And then... 'Tracky Dacks' processive panel.
Those look great! Good idea. A huge part of my finally getting into modular was that it peaked a long standing interest in electronics, and had a large and very solid DIY community/mindset. In setting up my little soldering corner, I went so far as to make a couple of 'jigs' for doing a dozen jacks at a time, which as a production-line set-up, gives me a start-to-end visual objective, and presents a flow that is relaxing rather than tedious. The cost of quality jacks proved a bit prohibitive though.imrae wrote: Sat May 15, 2021 11:14 am I need a lot of cables to connect my new UMC1820 interface to my patchbay, so figured it's time to have a proper try at making some.
Using multicore cable to keep things compact and tidy. Maybe I should have just taped/heatshrinked some narrower balanced cable... Will try a mixture of Rean and Neutrik jacks to decide if the 3x price difference is worth it!

I think that's the Duke Nukem of eurorack modules, isnt it?Shabdahbriah wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 11:43 pm and... speaking of things in the works, for those who have or aspire to have an AFG.![]()

TBH, I am weary of digital modules with firmware updates and options. I have a number of those and
am not really super good at keeping up with it. It's unavoidable of course, for me though, unless it's
something I have specific need of, or deep interest in. I'm not super inclined acquire more of it.
The livewire module looks cool though, I just paid for my Sketchy Labs Freak Shift, another interesting
module which I very much am looking forward to.

I found the Neutriks nicer to work with, mainly because a much smaller boot needs to be threaded before soldering and everything else can be added after. The strain relief is more convincing and easier to undo; I would prefer these for instrument cables. And you can buy little coloured flags that slip over the screw thread to indicate channels.Shabdahbriah wrote: Thu May 20, 2021 9:59 am In setting up my little soldering corner, I went so far as to make a couple of 'jigs' for doing a dozen jacks at a time, which as a production-line set-up, gives me a start-to-end visual objective, and presents a flow that is relaxing rather than tedious. But for around the back of the rack, the slim Rean jacks pack nicely and the crimp-style strain relief should be fine. I'll be buying a few more Neutrik and a lot more Rean to finish off this wiring job!

I've put off anything with a dinky screen and cryptic menus for years, and that bit makes me anxious. I'd have to use a magnifying glass to read it. Not that I don't have one on hand because of the font size on certain modules, already.pekbro wrote: Thu May 20, 2021 11:20 am TBH, I am weary of digital modules with firmware updates and options. Checked out the thread on MOD, and watched his video on it. That thing is crazy-cool!!!pekbro wrote: Thu May 20, 2021 11:20 am The livewire module looks cool though, I just paid for my Sketchy Labs Freak Shift, another interesting

not so much hidden shit, but a lot of things clearer now, so i dont feel like im just randomly tweaking shit! now im randomly tweaking but with actual intent!!
ok, ill give you the "full dry, turns full wet when freeze is triggered!!" that is pretty cool, and i hadnt even discovered that in my play, because who goes full dry normally?
makes it even more like my old supertrigga! that was dry till triggered, made glitching drums for example very sweet!
this has the extra tapestop/destroy stuff though
i thank you for drawing my attention to it

theres a part of me that feels i should own a vult module, just for the name being so close
sadly at the moment, funds are reserved for other bits, but that looks very cool!
