Studio One 5.2 - Is it possible to make the MIDI input follow the focused plugin in Instrument view?

Hi,
Usually the MIDI input follows the selected track in the arrangement window, but can I make it also follow the selected instrument in the Instrument view?
Otherwise, what is the point of being able to see all the instruments in one window, if you cannot do that.
Cheers

I'm not aware of such an option, but that's a good idea - make a feature request at their forum thingy!ferez21 wrote: Wed May 19, 2021 3:55 pm...can I make it also follow the selected instrument in the Instrument view?
(I guess the point of this feature was to not have multiple separate windows open and for tweaking the parameters - while the MIDI clip is playign - rather than playing the synth).

The best alternative would be to use the arrow keys or 'Next Channel' keyboard shortcut to navigate your Instruments while both Instrument Input Follows Selection and Channel Editor Follows Selection are enabled under 'Preferences > Advanced > Console'.

It looks to me that it doesn’t really make sense architecturally. Inputs have to be routed to devices – input->device->output chains have to be created. That’s what tracks->channels are for: events are nested on tracks, audio devices are nested in channels. You’re asking to disregard track routings and go straight from input to channel each time you open an Instrument GUI. Not impossible conceptually, but then you couldn’t record what you play. And what if you used multiple input devices? And what if you have multiple plugin windows open? Etc.
The Arm button is there for a reason
The point of having all instruments accessible from one window is that you can have multiple tracks playing and then quickly jump to different instruments to modify them, record automation, etc. Or arm several tracks and layer them easily. And other uses. It’s just that inputs have to go through tracks.
I’d recommend setting up Open Instrument Editor shortcut. It’s a must.

I get it, there are a lot of reasons to group all the Instruments in one window, but my logic is that if i switch to another instrument on that window, it necessarily means that i want to tweak it/play it, so the input should follow and be automatically routed to it too.elnn wrote: Fri May 21, 2021 6:46 am It looks to me that it doesn’t really make sense architecturally.
