1984: Grammy Award nomination for Best Music Video - “Videosyncracy”[1]
1995: Berkeley Lifetime Achievement Award from the Popular Culture Society at UC Berkeley.[5]
2017: Honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music, where he delivered the commencement address, and an honorary doctorate from DePauw University.[135][136]
2018: Nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2019.[109] Since becoming eligible in 1995,[109] he has often been asked about his absence from the Hall of Fame.[103] A 2018 poll conducted by the institution, which is not factored in the final vote, placed Rundgren as the third-most deserving nominee on the ballot.[137][nb 8] In 2016, Rundgren told an interviewer: "It doesn't have the same cachet as a Nobel Peace Prize or some historical foundation. If I told you about how they actually determine who gets into the Hall of Fame, you'd think that I was bullshitting you, because I've been told what's involved. ... It's just as corrupt as anything else, and that's why I don't care."[110]

You got that backwards. ;)

"Do Ya" was written by Jeff Lynne when he in The Move, pre-ELO. He then rerecorded it in ELO.

Utopia, Todd's band, covered "Do Ya."

Nice one Todd. Well deserved.

I saw him live at Knebworth Fair with Utopia and caught his one man show in the 80s. A true star :)

He produced XTC’s Skylarking. Surely you know that album... no? Dear God? I believe he did all the scoring and drum machine programming on that. I think I once read that he didn’t read music, so he played all the parts into a Prophet 5 r3 and recorded the MIDI and used a music notation program to create the score for the musicians to play.

Todd’s one of the people that I have a hard time recommending. His catalogue is really uneven. Even on his best albums there are super cringeworthy tunes. I tried to listen to Oops, Wrong Planet recently, and I found a lot of it had me reaching for the skip button. OTOH, almost every album has something that’s genius on it. I’m not sure if I would have gotten into him if I hadn’t dated a girl who was a super fan and I got dragged to every local show for a long time.

I like Todd's music but I really love how innovative he is:

* He took his Meatloaf royalties and heavily invested in music video pre-MTV. He had the 8th video ever played on MTV. He made a lot of videos himself on Amiga computers.

* He predicted music streaming early on. He failed to convince record companies to put music on servers. Then Napster came along.

* When CD-Is came out he got heavily into interactivity. He rebranded himself TR-I and made a CD-I and live shows focused on interactivity.

* He coded his own Patronet website in Flash before Patreon. The concept was similar to Patreon.

* The last time I saw him live, he was performing with a 20 year-old VJ and dancer/singers. It was weird but definitely not an oldies act.

Huh. The story that I heard was that he was thought to be her adoptive father, but was actually her biological father, not Tyler. I guess that’s wrong, but just looking at her, I’d bet $10 that a DNA test would prove me right. Just look at her, then look at young Todd photos. The resemblance is much stronger than with Tyler.

Rundgren was thought to be her father, and she grew up as Liv Rundgren. But it turned out Tyler was actually her biological father, something she challenged her mother on because of her resemblance to his daughter Mia Tyler. She subsequently changed her surname to Tyler.

All this is well known, and you'd lose your $10.

Or are you saying she's getting it wrong?
