* When CD-Is came out he got heavily into interactivity. He rebranded himself TR-I and made a CD-I and live shows focused on interactivity.

I saw him do his interactive show twice at Woodstock II. He was sponsored by Phillips, who was hawking their 3DO game consoles. Great show. A sort of electronic interactive gazebo with video cameras that would lower down so the audience could use them to feed video into a computer system that was providing 360 tv monitors on top of the stage. It was also ringed with drum pads that would become live at various points. Both nights he invited an audience member up to take a guitar solo. The first night was a huge success. The second night... not so much.

Huh. The story that I heard was that he was thought to be her adoptive father, but was actually her biological father, not Tyler. I guess that’s wrong, but just looking at her, I’d bet $10 that a DNA test would prove me right. Just look at her, then look at young Todd photos. The resemblance is much stronger than with Tyler.

Rundgren was thought to be her father, and she grew up as Liv Rundgren. But it turned out Tyler was actually her biological father, something she challenged her mother on because of her resemblance to his daughter Mia Tyler. She subsequently changed her surname to Tyler.

All this is well known, and you'd lose your $10.

they don't tend to say that kinda detail on the radio after a song, and i havent bought a record by any of those bands, so have never read it either

It's about damned time. F###, looking at the many crap artists/one-hit wonders who already made it, it's a disgrace that it took so long for someone with Rundgren's resume to make it. His fingerprints are all over the pop/rock scene going back to the 70s, not to mention how many big names mention him as an influence. Think I'll put the Furs' "Forever Now" on repeat today in celebration.

This is great news and a well-deserved nomination. I picked up Runt when it came out in 1970. I missed his second release completely, not reconnecting until Something/Anything? in '72. Side one of '73's A Wizard, a True Star is still in my listening rotation. It's just that bonkers and just that good.
