It's possible with VST2 already.imrae wrote: Fri May 21, 2021 8:10 am Sure, both of these things can be true. And a better plugin would come closer to replacing Rewire. I think it is possible with VST3 to expose multiple MIDI ports.

Not multiple MIDI ports to host (in VST2), only single MIDI port with 16 chs.

Oh, I thought you meant the other way around, i.e. MIDI inputs like Kontakt, Halion, Falcon, etc. that obviously work in VST2 formatCochrane wrote: Fri May 21, 2021 8:56 amNot multiple MIDI ports to host (in VST2), only single MIDI port with 16 chs.

HALion is VST3 and has multiple MIDI input ports, but Kontakt (VST2) doesn't have them: only single MIDI IN port.
For Reason Rack Plugin, it could be possible implementing both ways:
- multiple MIDI ports (one for every device in the rack, as in Rewire), but I don't know if in VST3 specs it could be possible dynamically adding MIDI ports
- single MIDI port (or a fixed number of VST3 MIDI ports) with something in the rack for devices channelization (it could be an improved Combinator which could manage channelization and also automation mapping to host)
For me this is really missing in the current RRP implementation and limits the usefulness of the whole rack in DAWs.

IMHO - The subscription base system sucks you pay up to $200 a year for a daw you don't ownGreenstorm33 wrote: Mon May 17, 2021 2:06 pm Aggressively pushing a subscription is very 2021. Lots of DAWs are still firmly in the permanent license dark ages.
if something happens where you cant cover the cost you're dawless after spending lots of $$$
a daw major update cost $120-$150 once every 2-3 years
ahead of the game is IL free for life updates

I've also waited some years for improvements until I realized that this will probably never come. The rule "always buy for what it is, never for what you expect it to become" applies again.antic604 wrote: Thu May 20, 2021 6:51 am There's many more people like me, who are not happy with RS slowly but surely abandoning the DAW portion![]()
I spearheaded the "Reason needs to DAW" for years there and got nothing but pissed off fanbois vomiting how great it already was.
They got what they asked for, or more importantly didn't ask for.
I moved on because my experienced past allows me to see the future, and I couldn't be happier with the direction I saw coming. Except for the sub crap, that doesn't work for me nor most of their base I suspect.
Have you tried Vital?

I'm hoping that RS under promises and over delivers. I hope they surprise us all with a massive DAW upgrade that attracts new users and keeps current ones like me from leaving. I love the Rack plugin, but I really wanted to use Reason as my main DAW.

Cubase is my main DAW and I couldn't be happier, especially augmented with Reason Rack, a few select VSTs and a killer custom hardware setup.jaybanon wrote: Fri May 21, 2021 10:46 pmWhat Daw are you happy with/using?Psuper wrote: Fri May 21, 2021 7:58 pmLaughable.Crossinger wrote: Thu May 20, 2021 7:40 amYes, I agree. I signed up for beta when 10 was getting VST performance update and then recently for 11 high-res update. The license for 12 I just got 'automatically', but there's still no download available.killmaster wrote: Sat May 22, 2021 12:17 pmDid you all previously sign up for beta versions or did it just show up? Cause It didn't for me.
