Already bought with a voucher (thanks KH  )

One of the best so far IMHO (provably as it uses the non liner filter quite a bit!)

I just subscribed 2 days ago (my first and only sub but I think your sub model is an example to all). How do I download the updates/patches? Also do subscribers qualify for the coupon?

Thanks!

Yup. As PieBerger says, all updates are handled via the installer. Run that and check the updates tab.

Subscribers do not qualify for the Phase Plant Buyer coupons. Sorry!

Thanks

btw I would love to see a bank or two purely devoted to FM which I think is one of the biggest attractions of this plugin for me.

Yeah I think it excels at FM - the particular generators themselves are capable although not best in class, but putting them together, by using them to modulate each other, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

It would be great to see granular capabilities being added to the sample osc though, and also an additive generator and MPE capabilities would on be my wishlist for Phaseplant 2. Also some of the effects could be enhanced such as a granular effect, a waveguide type filter for PM, and a better reverb.

Plus please get Arrovane to make more patches like the ones in Tremor - my favourite sounds so far for Phaseplant

Yeah. Arovane and emptyvessel (Suspension).

You pretty much summed up all my thoughts. Granular osc, effect, additive osc, MPE, I don't know what waveguide is but it's probably cool, and reverb (and delay) improvement.

I'll add onto that FFT effects: vocoding/freq+amplitude freezing/sidechain matching, thinning, noise filtering or enhancing, partial rearrangement (mappable? modulatable mappings a la Pigments 3 Harmonic Cluster mode?), spectral purity/harmonicity. Also, a feedback loop in effects slots, whatever compromises necessary.

Phase Plant is on sale right now. Best prices here: https://www.bestservice.com/deals/kiloh ... _3302.html

My questions: Is just the basic version of Kilohearts Phase Plant (no starter/professional toolbox) worth considering? Do the starter/professional bundles add anything else apart from just the additional snapins, which I believe are basically just effects for processing the sounds within Phase Plant? Are they really essential if you don't process sounds within synths?

The website does say this for basic Phase Plant, but I thought it would still be good to ask.
Note that all factory and third-party presets will work regardless of which effects you own.
I wonder if all the presets this guy is playing part of basic Phase Plant version.

Yes, I believe those presets are all the basic version. Personally, I find the base kit to be the most valuable part, as a lot of goodness for me happens in the oscillator section and modulation system. However, many more technical users swear by Snap Heap and multipass (I'd normally consider myself one because of FL Patcher but I haven't gone as deep into those snapins), which really come alive with the snapins. Personally I find the most use for the flanger (it's great), pitch shifter, distortion and nonlinear filter snapins when it comes to use outside of Phase Plant (and in it), occasionally some others which I'm only just learning how to use better so my answers may change. Slice EQ is variably a godsend inside and outside of Phase Plant for some of its features + 31 bands, and you may be able to get it free from this website via Computer Music Magazine if the offer is still ongoing: https://exe.io/sliceeq (it's an ad-based thing, it may look sketchy but it's not, at the end of 3 pages it'll direct you to a Computer Music page for a serial, because they do giveaways periodically of Slice it seems)

Overall, for me most of the snapins are mostly useful in Phase Plant, but in particular, Multipass and Snap heap with all the snapins are highly useful everywhere and many of the snapins I use regularly for lots of things. Higher bundles will get you both regular and "premium" snapins (multipass and the others that cost $60+). And Slice EQ inside of kilohearts hosts becomes a monster.

Honestly I just recommend the subscription. I'll never subscribe to anything like software, except for kilohearts, because their subscription is so good. You end up paying $20 per year when you include the voucher you get for non-consecutive months of subscribing, and it's a $10 trial essentially if you want to try it for a month here and there, with full access to everything. I even own Phase Plant and some snapins and I'm still on the sub because it's still worth it.

@E_Anderson: Thank you so much for your time and suggestions. Great to know those sounds are from the basic version. While I appreciate the use cases you have shared for the snapins, I am someone who does not process the sounds within the plugin, so I am not sure they will be useful for me. Also, I am covered with all the external effects I need, so adding more effects from Kilohearts isn't going to offer any significant advantage. Perhaps I don't understand or feel excited about using Kilohearts effects in general.

The Slice EQ and Carve EQ freebies are worth grabbing only if you plan to upgrade to the bundle that include them, else no use. At least that's what I understood from their upgrade policy. This means for Phase Plant Starter/Pro these won't be useful for upgrade. Of course, great freebies if you want/like to use them as standalone effects.

I did think about the subscription. It is indeed one of the best models out there. However, if I am only going to use Phase Plant, which I can buy for ~$80, it's not worth to spend $120 for the year even if you get $100 voucher in return, which you will most probably end up spending on something more than $100. Just my way of thinking. Over a period of time, you almost always end up paying more for subscription and don't use it to its fullest, especially with the ocean full of options that we have these days.

I will demo Phase Plant and see if the basic version is good enough if at all.

Thanks again. :)
