The sound at 6 min 10 sec.

Is this just yet another variation on some "orchestra hit" sample and if so does it have a more exact name?
Or could it be something completely different?
I've heard this sound in a couple of songs.

Classic eighties orchestra hit. Fairlight CMI and/or Emulator.

One of these:

The most used ones were named ORCH2 and ORCH5.

I couldn't find it so far. It's none of the standard ones. It must be something else.

note d5 produces a somewhat similar sound but not THE sound.
It's a different sound.

Maybe you could ask the artist himself?

Let us know the answer, okay? 8)

How can I contact him? Do you have an email address?

Otherwise I still hope for someone to recognize the sample and be able to give details.

I disagree (that "Fleet Fleet" sound is definitely a Fairlight, either ORCH2 or ORCH5) but whatever.

Just never EVER let any of us listen to horrible out of tune Italo mixes again, OK? That's plain wrong. They're supposed to be mixed out of sync, not out of key.

It's the Fairlight Orch Hit sample.
You're correct, D5 produces a similar sound but not THE sound.
Hit D4 plus D5 to get the identical sound.

OK, the sample you sent convinces me.

However, it still won't help me without the further information/details I need:
What plugin(s) did you use and what's the name of the sound in it?
I'd like to understand why it did not work in the programs I used, even when I tried doubled octaves or chords.
(Arturia's CMI, different sf2 files, vst Orch Hit Synth, ...)

Arturia's CMI will work just fine with the "Orch2" preset, I've used UVI's Darklight IIx, but it's always the same sample, so it shouldn't matter where you take it from.
I added a short reverb, lots of it though, and set the Release time very short so the sample is cut off when I release the key - Then played D4+D5 in quick succession, "ba-dam", felt closer to what you posted. Then used a highpass filter to remove the low end, and a lowpass filter to remove the high end. Added generous amounts of resonance on the low pass to add that piercing frequency peak. No magic here, as you can tell, just basic adjustments to mimick the source.

Found a good video describing the required processing here:

Yeees, this is MUCH more like it!
Some heavy processing IS definately necessary to get this exact sound which may be loosely BASED on the orch2 sample, but really only based on it. It's definately not just "hit 2 keys and you'll have the sound". So thank you VERY much for THIS kind of information. I'll definately try to reconstruct THIS kind of thing now to understand it better myself. This is what I call helpful information, the kind of thing I was looking for. :tu:
