Yes, Bitwig has a habit of doing things that after it is done you just think 'why didn't everyone do it that way'...VST or Hardware- operators, expand, comp- it all makes sense for building in variation that is both random and selected by your musical taste. Very cool, I'm currently very happy.pdxindy wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 2:55 pmThe Fold to Takes is really fun...SLiC wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 1:07 pmRight-click any audio clip to 'Fold To Takes' its incredibly useful and fun, comp anything fast, you don't have to play an instrument to find this useful- any loops or clips, bounce some random stuff- comp it all together with drag and slide and make something new!
Anyway- that's the much needed comping covered superbly by Bitwig. Possibly best in class, definitely best in class if you want to comp in clips!!
This is gonna be useful for me for recording audio from hardware gear!
Bitwig Studio 4 announced (+beta available)!

There are still some QoL features that are missing in this release of Bitwig that I wish they would address. For example something as simple as selecting multiple channels and changing the pan or volume for all selected tracks. I don't know of any other DAW that doesn't do at least that. The way chokes works in Drum Machine still sucks, awful workflow. Still nothing but a global swing. I don't need groove templates but at least let me swing per track or per note. I can't believe they haven't addressed at least that yet.

It does do that. It's just that you have to change the volume/panning in the left side editor, so that might not be immediately obvious.apoclypse wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 3:23 pm There are still some QoL features that are missing in this release of Bitwig that I wish they would address. I've upgraded my license just because of Native M1 version. And i know few people who did the same. So don't judge here by your own. For me this is the biggest feature in 4.0.jens wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 10:12 am WTF??? They list support for Apple Silicon as a major new feature for V4? That's beyond absurd!

Native M1 support is mind blowing accomplishment, didn’t expect that this fast, only that is worth v4, add comping it’s no brainer!

Yes I know that but it doesn't do it like every other DAW on the planet does it by just dragging the object you are actually working on. The fact that it's not immediately obvious makes it a quality of life issue imo because new users will keep asking the same questions every time.loungepanda wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 4:13 pmIt does do that. The expected behavior is that if I select multiple tracks and I move the volume slider or returns or whatever it should affect all selected tracks. Just like it's expected behavior that if I select multiple tracks and right click to delete, it will delete all selected tracks. That's how anyone who has been using WIMP application have been trained and it's expected behavior.
Bitwig already does this in certain instances, like if I have multiple audio clips selected and edit the fade handle on one of them it affects all of them. It's how object oriented design is supposed to work.

No you can't. You can edit them from the menu on the left but you can't move them directly in the mixer view. On top of that it works only for Volume, Pan, Arm, Solo, and Mute. Doesn't work for Returns/sends for example.FlareStar wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 4:16 pmWhat?? What if you don't have the inspector view open? It doesn't make sense in a modern software context imo.

I think they're trying to teach you a habit. There's many more things you can do at once with several objects - notes, audio events, clips, automation nodes, expressions, etc. - from inspector panel.apoclypse wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 4:35 pmYes I know that but it doesn't do it like every other DAW on the planet does it by just dragging the object you are actually working on. It's actually very consistent, although - I'll admit - unusual.

That's misleading. Yes, he can. The individual faders will move proportionally to how you move the meta-fader in the Inspector panel (that's how it's called, BTW).apoclypse wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 4:42 pmNo you can't. Yup- I have no issue doing it (and everything else multi selected track related) thorough the inspector panel. It's not hard to remember and I always have the inspector open as it has so many uses. At least you have a mixer, try Live's session view for mixing!

It's not misleading because the issue I'm pointing out has nothing to do with whether you can edit multiple object at all, it's the way you edit theses object that's the issue. It also doesn't address Sends for example which other DAWs let you edit across multiple tracks but Bitwig doesn't. It's not a good workflow imo and inconsistent with what they do with other objects in the UI. It's also not expected behavior considering other DAWs handle this the expected way.antic604 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 4:55 pmThat's misleading. Yes, he can. What's wrong with Live's session view for mixing? Bitwig is not much better imo. At least in Live if I select multiple tracks I can directly edit them without having to go to some inspector to edit values. I can also edit sends across multiple tracks. They also have resizable faders. I'm not seeing how Bitwig is better in that regard. Can you elaborate?
