it's a 6-voice / up to 6-timbral synth with hybrid architecture – digital oscillators, analog filters.

Designed by Mutable Instruments, a sort of poly followup to Shruthi. (They did standalones before they went into doing Eurorack.)vurt wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 1:55 pmi have no idea what an ambika is?

An idiot on Set Theory:

Fancy getting a multi tier keyboard rack with holders for my keyboards, drum machines and some smaller desktop synths like you see in many vids.
I have a stand and added a second tier a while ago, but feel it’s not going to work well to add anything more to it.
Jaspers, through Thomann to get UK delivery, seems the big supplier, but they’re pretty expensive for what’s mainly aluminium rods and some chunky plastic.
Anyone suggest similar but cheaper brands? DIYs out of the equation unfortunately as I’m useless/dangerous at that.

It makes a surprising amount of sound, for such a small package.vurt wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 2:11 pmwell now it sounds even more lively!whyterabbyt wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 2:08 pmDesigned by Mutable Instruments, a sort of poly followup to Shruthi. I had just spotted Ambika and Shruthi for the first time yesterday.
@Shabdahbriah, The MI black faceplates are nice! I think I'm picking up Plaits this weekend and adding the black faceplate too. The Plaits one is not as nice but I like it better. One way or another I'm expanding and I'd like to add this one. I like my bootleg version in Beebo.

I built mine with SVF voices and I love it. I've used it in quite a few projects. I was lucky enough to get a metal enclosure.I'm not sure if those are still made.

I basically have it permanently hooked up to my SE50 effect. It does these glorious evolving pads. The modulation matrix and sequencer are really deep and the digital oscs sound great.

that's why i ordered it.Shabdahbriah wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 2:44 pm It makes a surprising amount of sound, for such a small package.
was looking to buy a spare Tetra, but their prices gone crazy.
Ambika is about twice bigger, but has more timbres/voices/outs as well, so basically the only companion it needs is a drum machine (in terms of sound generation of course).
yes they are. something about €130.justin3am wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 3:30 pm I was lucky enough to get a metal enclosure.I'm not sure if those are still made.
i'll probably get one and repack mine, because planning to take it to gigs a lot.

Yeah, definitely get the metal enclosure if you plan to use it outside of the studio. I broke my first acrylic case, shortly after I finished the assembly and had to order a new one. It was when Mutable was still selling the PCBs and cases, so luckily it wasn't too much of a pain.
Which voice cards do you have?

two 4P + two SMR4 + two SVF.
not intended to be used as poly, but as kick + bass + up to 4 leads/arps.
EBM, industrial, psy/goa trance — stuuff like that.
P.S. just to make everyone envious: got new prebuilt unit for $500.
