So you complain about people complaining? How does that contribute to the subject?
Finally joining in on some WUP hate.

A small update, after insisting, they asked me to provide a proof of my old laptop being sold, and a receipt of buying a new computer in order to escalate the issue to their higher managment, seems a bit excessive and rather paranoid of them.

I think everyone who has a head to, like, think, can figure out for him-/herself whether the Waves scheme is something he/she would like to buy into or not. I decided a long time ago that that is not the case for me.chk071 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 2:38 pm All this talk is just trying hard to evangelize others. It doesn't serve any other purpose.

I have been using TG Mastering, REDD, Plates and NLS for about 3 years. For as much as I constantly use and love them this was some of the best 30 bucks I have ever spent in my life. I'd happily shell out another 18 bucks each if needed to upgrade them for the next 3 years..but I haven't had to.
Just because I dropped 29.99 on these doesn't mean they aren't worth much more to me.
Other Waves I have....It wouldn't bother or affect me at all if for whatever reason they stopped working.

The V12 resizable guis are neat, but honestly the upscaling doesn't look all that great to me. Windows has a zoom tool already.

I've often wondered how they would handle a drive with the iLok keys crashing. The most reasonable thing to do is have a reset button, but iLok doesn't work that way I guess.ferez21 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 3:25 pm A small update, after insisting, they asked me to provide a proof of my old laptop being sold, and a receipt of buying a new computer in order to escalate the issue to their higher managment, seems a bit excessive and rather paranoid of them.

So did you try to manually change your machine's MAC address in the meantime?ferez21 wrote: Thu May 27, 2021 2:56 pm What they basically said is WUP it or wait till April 2022 to recover it again.

I'm waiting for their escalation's outcome, if they disapprove the 2nd recovery then I'll do that

Okay, but mostly probably it would be done in a couple of minutes - no big thing - writing back and forth with their support probably took way more of your time.

I'm just saying that when I had my 1000 dollar bundle and it was available for a free update, they made contact with me and said " check out our new stuff it is free for you". The same bundle had a full version go by when my WUP was active and they didn't say a thing. It took 20 minutes on the phone for a guy to say "yes you were entitled to that upgrade, but if you didn't do anything then you are screwed". The rest of their business model doesn't bother me aside from them not sending a message saying "You have licenses that you can upgrade now with your WUP."

Yes, their business model is a bit in the shady side, which is a shame because their products are very good value in my eyes.Ah_Dziz wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 1:11 am I'm just saying that when I had my 1000 dollar bundle and it was available for a free update, they made contact with me and said " check out our new stuff it is free for you". In an update to the issue i had with them a few pages back on this thread, after almost a week my license restore got approved by their managment, so I didn't have to pay for a freaking WUP just to install plugins that i already own. It ended up ok this time, but it was not entirely pleasent to say the least.

I'll get over it considering that projects from 20 years ago still load waves up properly. Just finally noticed a situation where WUP could screw you over pretty well. I generally stay a couple versions behind with the waves stuff. Most of my licenses are 11 and 12 but I run v 10 of everything that exists in that version.

for my part, I'm glad there are threads pointing out this kind of thing, which means I saw enough long, long ago already to quite disabuse me of any perceived need to sign up for this particular ecosystem.
I bought a Waves "Musician's Bundle" back in '03 when I started with DAW work. They went to a dongle auth not long after, which invalidated my licenses. Pissed me off some, already had a bit of a beef which is not belied by anything I've seen since. Fortunately the plugins were of scant significance to me, and I don't really see them making things which are not found elsewhere in the realm. I could be well wrong, fine with it.
