So if I buy my upgrade from 10 to 11 now from an online shop (there are a few deals around) rather than the official site, will I still get a free upgrade to 12 ? I'm guessng not but worth asking

You will get the upgrade...its based on when you register it with Reason, not where you buy it from.
I bought mine from AudioDeluxe, they had an extra 15% off I think...

No worries- it actually says you get the free reason 12 I think- you only see the extra discount when its in basket (I got 15%)

You're right , and better than the other deals I'd seen...was kind of on the fence but 2 versions upgrade for that price is deffo worth it

it is...in fact I got tempted in to the 11 suite upgrade with the 30% off + 15% + AudioBucks!

I had recommened Reason to my vocal teacher and she was very interested. We came to the conclusion that Intro should suffice for her, at least for the beginning. Today I asked her about it and she told me that she tried to get the demo but couldn't find it, so she gave up. It didn't sound like she will want get the full version instead and I have certainly have little interested in trying to persuade her and even much less so right now.
Now I am there to tell her that she can try the full version instead and I can explain to her in detail was exactly will be missing in Intro, which she can still purchase ATM but:

1) without me she would most probably just leave it be

2) even then, the question is: is she going to purchase a product that will basically be unsupported and outdated two or three months later?

My vocal teacher has many students. She probably would have ended up recommending it to many of them (Reason Intro has the full audio-editor, including the pitch-editor which imo totally pisses all over Melodyne for vocals, especially in regards to ease of use), now she probably won't.

I think they are shooting themselves in the foot with removing Intro. They might make it a little more expensive or better yet upmarket it slightly, but to completely get rid of it? Is that going to make them more money and friends?

I assume they will end up diminishing their user-base, not increasing it.

Then that dude who is now their CEO will move on to burn other fields with his shitty business approach.

Recent research showed that a lot of CEOs have psychopathic tendencies so it makes sense they’re not going to take an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach to the job.
