This is mostly for fun, people shouldn't read too much into it, but I do think it's more accurate than it's not. The largest Facebook groups for all the DAWs I could think of at the moment, and it IMO reflects what I thought might be about right in terms of actual popularity. Most DAWs have multiple groups but most other groups are small or specialized, and one is likely to be part of multiple groups for their main DAW. This is near the only metric I know of that's not really biased at all, even if it's arguably not that accurate.

Pro Tools - 143k members.
FL Studio - 132k
Ableton Live - 101k
Logic Pro - 85k
Cubase - 51k
Studio One 39k
Reason 25k
Reaper 18k
Sonar 7.2k
Bitwig - 5.4k
Digital Performer 3.7k
Traction Waveform 1.1k

Of course my two favorites at the moment DP and Bitwig are near the bottom. :?

That's because those users are serious users, not concerned with the fripperies of FB and social media. ;)

I left all the FB groups I was in for things I was serious about, too random, was forever losing or missing posts (typical FB manipulation etc), seemed a much higher level of random a-holes who wouldn't rest till their opinion was acknowledged. I just found proper old-school forums (thinking Reaper here) and even Reddit much more likely to return decent useful results.

Given the nature of Facebook, I would call the DAWs least popular
on FB the most serious.

The thing is about statistics though, the higher the number the more evened out the randomness becomes. As a Reaper user I don't you're any less likely to be on Facebook, or not on FB, than any other DAW user. Or to put it another way, the amount of boomers, zooomers, and anti FB people is about the same as it would be for other DAWs. Even FL Studio is so old that there are all ages and types using it.

Or, my suspicions on the actual numbers for various DAWs pretty much matches this breakdown percentage wise comparison wise. Obviously not all users are on FB, you could probably add a factor of 5 or 10 even to the actual active users of all these DAWs.

Sounds about right TBH... Maybe except for FL Studio.

I absolutely detest this "fan" thing, BTW. Apple was the pioneer in that regard, and now they all do it.

We need more stats! Reddit, or even better, YouTube.

Those are complete nonsense, it is very rare that anybody leaves a group when they stop using a piece of software, or indeed does not join a group for software they dont use, all the figures show is that those groups have those many members, absolutely nothing else.
Example, it would probably be close to half of Behringer group members that are there to say how much they hate Behringer haha.
Duh

It's all nonsense, but, my gut feeling based on what I see hear and read tells me the stats in the OP aren't that far from being real, really.

So, people who use FLS, Live and Reason need more help than others?
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Post

Who here doesn't have more than one DAW installed, whether you use them all or not? How many do you actually use? How many Facetube and Youbook channels do you subscribe to, despite not having that software?

Even if you were to get data direct from the manufacturers regarding how many copies of rack version they've sold, it wouldn't tell the whole story. Now many kracks are being used? How many chores languish unused on hard drives because another DAW is preferred, but they have that one for compatibility, just in case?

A more interesting poll would be, Which DAWs do you own? Which are installed? Which do you use and what percentage of the time?
