It would be interesting research. But forum pools are not capable of this kind of info gathering. A well-arranged pool in google forms will be good enough.syntonica wrote: Fri May 28, 2021 2:46 pm Who here doesn't have more than one DAW installed, whether you use them all or not? How many do you actually use? How many Facetube and Youbook channels do you subscribe to, despite not having that software?
Even if you were to get data direct from the manufacturers regarding how many copies of rack version they've sold, it wouldn't tell the whole story. Now many kracks are being used? How many chores languish unused on hard drives because another DAW is preferred, but they have that one for compatibility, just in case?
A more interesting poll would be, Which DAWs do you own? Which are installed? Which do you use and what percentage of the time?

It's fully understandable when it comes to FLS at least. It's far from logical to use.syntonica wrote: Fri May 28, 2021 2:39 pm So, people who use FLS, Live and Reason need more help than others?
Mac Mini M4 Pro | 14 Cores (10P/4E) | 48GB RAM | Studio One | Reason | Bitwig Studio | Logic Pro | FL Studio | Cubase Pro | Waveform | Reaper | Renoise | ~1000 VSTs/AUs | ~350 REs

Define "well-arranged". How do you want to get remotely enough people together for a representative result?Serhii Kot wrote: Fri May 28, 2021 2:51 pm It would be interesting research. The only stat that would remotely matter in terms of "popularity" is number of units sold and that information is not available for good reasons.

I don't believe for a second there are 40% more ProTools users than Live users. I would guess that there are many more Live users than ProTools users.machinesworking wrote: Fri May 28, 2021 8:20 amOr, my suspicions on the actual numbers for various DAWs pretty much matches this breakdown percentage wise comparison wise.

I mean, good questions to show real usage, owning, years of use, number of finished tracks per DAW, age of a user, etc. Will it be representative? No, it won't. Will it be interesting and fun? I think it will.chk071 wrote: Fri May 28, 2021 4:25 pmDefine "well-arranged". Indeed. As a reminder, I lie on all polls and encourage others to do the same.

depends, not sure what information they may have on fb? but as most if not all colleges and unis use pt, then maybe a lot of students sign up for that?pdxindy wrote: Fri May 28, 2021 5:22 pmI don't believe for a second there are 40% more ProTools users than Live users. no idea, only really used it for hitting on old gfs after my divorce and haven't been on there in a while.
fb i mean, telling old gfs used pt, if i did (i don't) wouldn't mean anything to any of them i don't think.
