From the same mind - behold a redesign of Reason's mixer:

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

What a total waste of space and development time for Bitwig. In Bitwig, I add instruments and fx with keystrokes and it is already done before someone could even look at the first image or two.chk071 wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 9:16 amIt's working surprisingly well for quicker and easier identification and selection of instruments or fx.pdxindy wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 4:02 amI hope that is a joke...THE INTRANCER wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 3:29 am Bitwig at version 4 and still with no thumbnail images for VST instruments and effects... I definitely think every DAW should have it. Most have now.

Good for you. And good for others that you are not the center of the world.
If it was just some random bullcrap, then nobody would have implemented it. It's not like hanging up a picture in the living room, you know. It adds some actual ease of use.

DAW's are running out of useful stuff to add to keep having paid updates... so someone added random bullcrap like vst graphics. Other DAW's followed suit cause they were also running out of ideas.chk071 wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 12:25 pm

Fortunately, Bitwig made a way to add instruments and fx that is much fast and easier than scrolling a long list of images.

Between now and 5 there will be 3-4 substantial releases as Bitwig always does, so hopefully sooner

The smart pop up browser in Bitwig is simply faster than pictures then when you have a lot of VSTs (pdxindy wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 1:29 pmDAW's are running out of useful stuff to add to keep having paid updates... so someone added random bullcrap like vst graphics. In Bitwig, if I want to add Hive... popup the browser, type 'h' and 'i', hit down arrow and return. Literally 2 seconds...SLiC wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 1:51 pmThe smart pop up browser in Bitwig is simply faster than pictures then when you have a lot of VSTs (pdxindy wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 1:29 pmDAW's are running out of useful stuff to add to keep having paid updates... so someone added random bullcrap like vst graphics. ) it takes for ever to scroll through hundreds of pictures when you can only see a dozen or so on screen at any one time. It looks pretty, it isn't actually very practical in my opinion...like I say, I turned it off in S1. In Reason its useful when a VST is in a wrapper as you can see what it is in the rack, so there may be reason to have it down the line in Bitwig (for example, a VSTs in the grid with a little snapshot top remind you) but no other reason I can think of.
Scrolling through a list of say 70 plugin images could be as much as 10 times slower.

Not to mention the ever growing list of devices, modulators, etc built into Bitwig itself. It would be a nightmare to deal with.pdxindy wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 2:08 pmIn Bitwig, if I want to add Hive... popup the browser, type 'h' and 'i', hit down arrow and return. Ha! When I finally go Apple M1, I'm pruning the list down to under 10. I just don't use or need all that clutter I've managed to buy at fire sale prices.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

almost using exclusively (from the browser only the recent ones section) the PManager and drag and dropping in S1 too, so not a question which is the more effective oneapoclypse wrote: Sat May 29, 2021 2:33 pmNot to mention the ever growing list of devices, modulators, etc built into Bitwig itself.
