Lock on / Lock off would be pretty clear, I agree. The users would need to be able to choose the desired default though, as having every new Composition open in the undesired state is not Rapid <g>.

Yes, locking rules is a good idea.

The next beta version will include the 'lock' button for chord rules (in 1 or 2 days).
You are right, it is very useful. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks!
Attila

Yes! When locked, the rules won't change at all. When unlocked, the rules will follow whatever the scale is at that point.
E.g. when you have "Pop Major Scale Rules" set and select a minor scale, the rules will change to "Pop Minor Scale Rules". This works as long as the rule has "major" or "minor" in its name...
The default is "unlocked" so the rules will always follow the scale.
Thanks,
Attila

4.2b11 is already available.barza wrote: Tue Jun 01, 2021 9:55 pm Looking forward to trying 4.2b11 which implements this - thanks!
Yes, with the VST3 plug-in you can use 128 MIDI channels.barza wrote: Tue Jun 01, 2021 9:55 pmWhen using RC as a VST plug in, is there any way to have RC send midi out on more than 16 channels?
Some hosts may have issues, but in theory this works well.
Cubase 11 Pro: 128 channels work with MIDI CC's on any channels
Studio One 5: 128 channels work, but MIDI CC's do not work in the current version. In the next v5.3 update MIDI CC's will work, Presonus is implementing legacy MIDI CC's right now for VST3.
REAPER: only 32 channels work well, with working MIDI CC's
Thanks,
Attila

Hi Attila
How do I get to see more than 16 midi channels of midi output from Rapid Composer as a VST3? When I create a new track in RC, I only see 16 channels of midi output I can direct to the host. And I can't see any way to activate more outputs either in RC or in Cubase?
Thanks

With 4.2b11 in a new composition - I click on the timeline and change the scale from C major to C minor. I click on the first chord and then click on the question mark. At the top of the box it says "Quick suggestions based on default major scale rules". But I just changed to a minor scale, and it should have changed the chord rule to follow, rather than requiring me to change the chord rule manually!!!!!

Right, the rules were not updated when you changed the scale from that master track menu. It is fixed now.But I just changed to a minor scale, and it should have changed the chord rule to follow, rather than requiring me to change the chord rule manually!!!!!
The extra exclamation marks are totally unnecessary. The beta versions may contain bugs, especially in new features like this one.
I added "Change Chords According To New Scale" option to several places where you can change the scale.+1 . And I do not understand why, when I change the scale, it is not possible to immediately adjust the master track chords in accordance with this scale ?
Thanks,
Attila

Atilla - you are right, the exclamation marks were not necessary. I apologise.
Can you answer my question about midi channels - I cannot see how to get RC to expose more than 16 channels of midi output in Cubase. Thanks.

Hi Malcolm,
if you load RC VST3 into Cubase, RC offers 128 channels in the track channel selector.
These channels are divided into 8 event buses internally, called MIDI Out 1, 2, etc.
Channels 1-16 is "MIDI Out 1", channels 17-32 is "MIDI Out 2", etc.
E.g. select channel 128 in RC, which is "MIDI Out 8 Ch 16".
For the MIDI track in Cubase, you should select "MIDI Out 8":

This is not enough, because you need to filter all other channels so that only channel 16 is received by the MIDI track:
You need to click on Input Transformer, Local:

I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Attila
