E2 is not the best sequencer out there, but i like overall size / weight of this setup.
Ambika: kick, bass, 4 arps/leads
E2: drums (except for kick), sequencing
LiveTrak L-8: mixing, recording, reverb
to be added: effects.

Jeez, my memory, I actually posted in that thread.

Any thoughts on Chronoblob Delay? I love the return/send although I’m guessing that’s not unique in eurorack world.

It’s my goto delay in VCV Rack, but then there’s a bit more choice in Eurorack so not sure how it stacks there. As a free delay with multiple modes it rocks.elxsound wrote: Sun May 30, 2021 2:19 pm Any thoughts on Chronoblob Delay? I have Chronoblob 2 and like it, maybe not the most exciting delay these days, but yeah the send/retelxsound wrote: Sun May 30, 2021 2:19 pm Any thoughts on Chronoblob Delay? I love the return/send although I’m guessing that’s not unique in eurorack world.
in the feedback loop thing is pretty cool. It can also do nice comb effects and whatnot and as well
suited as a general digital delay imo. Just depends on your needs.
*I have the Magneto as well, and that also has a send/ret, so yeah not so exclusive I guess. In that
regard anyway.

So it’s more a bread and butter delay with return/send in the feedback loop for deviation.
It’s the first one I got excited for but a big part was the filter it was sent through.

It's a great delay, but yeah bread and butter is definitely in there. Still with all the cv control and
multiple algorithms, it's capable of a great deal more with some imagination. E.g. it's pretty
handy.
*One things for sure, it has kept me from wanting overly to buy any other delays.
btw: any thoughts on the Strymon Nightsky? I'm thinking seriously of grabbing one of those this weekend.

I haven’t been a fan of what I’ve heard from Strymon so far, but that’s usually on their multi algorithm pedals because I always find some that are just not that great
I have not checked Magneto or Nightsky before today... lots of bad Nightsky videos but I like Rabea’s:

And speaking of pedal eurorack crossovers, Afterneath is on sale this weekend.
It’s definitely interesting and Baseck’s video almost sold me on it. I’m still building things out on modulargrid, so we’ll see if there’s space but I think it’s too specialized to get right now.

I had V1 for a while, and liked it for the ability to choose between doppler or crossfading when the delay time changes.elxsound wrote: Sun May 30, 2021 2:19 pm Any thoughts on Chronoblob Delay? I love the return/send although I’m guessing that’s not unique in eurorack world.
I prefer Mimeophon despite the lack of send/return, but that's what matrix mixers are for

Wow, didn't realise the Ambika had 6 independent outputs like that. This works out very compact for a mixer-based rig!chaocrator wrote: Fri May 28, 2021 5:47 pm E2 is not the best sequencer out there, but i like overall size / weight of this setup.

Damn, I had not even thought of a Matrix Mixer! Mimeophon definitely covers lots of ground with its delay size and zones.foosnark wrote: Sun May 30, 2021 3:38 pmI had V1 for a while, and liked it for the ability to choose between doppler or crossfading when the delay time changes.elxsound wrote: Sun May 30, 2021 2:19 pm Any thoughts on Chronoblob Delay? *any recommendations for a decent sized matrix mixer? I think this the first real use case I could make for picking up Civilization. I see the instruo Lion, which is pretty nice for its simplicity but pricey when compared to something like what Civilization can do.

I have one. I like it but I don't love it. I prefer its sparse algorithm (more of an FDN type of sound). The dense (plate) algorithm is OK but I have better options. The diffuse algorithm, which is why most people will buy it, I find tiring on the ear during a long modular session (I find all shimmer/glimmer reverbs hardware or software, whilst having their own sonic signature, similarly fatiguing over a long period, so that is nothing against the Night Sky per se).pekbro wrote: Sun May 30, 2021 2:52 pm btw: any thoughts on the Strymon Nightsky? It can be controlled over Midi/USB with all its parameters exposed, but that is usually beyond the limits of my patience to set up.
I have recently acquired a Desmodus Versio and it could easily replace the Night Sky for me, but I know I will keep changing the firmware on it, so it is handy to have more than one deliberately artificial reverb designer.

most matrix mixers also suffer from taking up more space, cvlization is tiny in comparison to a basic cheap doepfer, so if that's a factor for you?elxsound wrote: Sun May 30, 2021 3:56 pmDamn, I had not even thought of a Matrix Mixer! as well as the other rather nifty modes
ive found paraphonic mode great with mono out, getting a similar thing to the audiothing "motor"
so will be useful even in smaller racks.
