Will Daws Eventually End Up As Hardware ?

I know it's a funny thing to say, but things do tend to go around in circles. I mean take Studio One because well Presonus also do hardware. They could easily fit Studio One on an electronic device more advanced than a basic Ipad. Essentially it would mean removing the actual desktop or laptop from the equation and doing things in the old school way. Look at this for example...

KVR S1-Thread | The Intrancersonic-Design Source > Program Resource | Studio One Resource | Music Gallery | 2D / 3D Sci-fi Art | GUI Projects | Animations | Photography | Film Docs | 80's Cartoons | Games | Music Hardware |

I mean isn't that kind of what the Akai Professional MpC Live and Maschine+ are? I'm sure some people would really like it but I don't find it compelling at all. Rumor is that Apple is trying to get Logic to work on iPad, now that would be interesting.

Sombunall. You have the MPCs, Verselab, Maschine+, Slate Raven, and workstations with built in sequencers and arrangers, but there will probably always be a need for computer-based DAWs, especially those doing scoring or other video work. It's definitely an interesting idea, being able to buy a controller box, preloaded and configured to your favorite DAW. Keep watching the skies!

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

Q : Will Daws Eventually End Up As Hardware ?
A : Yes, because computers -are- hardware. No, because 'custom' hardware will always be less open, less flexible, disproportionately more expensive (economics of scale), technically redundant if you already have a computer, and because to run a generic DAW and plugins, the device has to be a generic computer in a fancy box anyway.
Various manufacturers have already tried the 'computer as hardware' route, including Muse, the former owners of KVR, and they've all failed because the device costs were just too expensive compared to a generic or even custom PC.

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

If desktop and laptop dissapears and will turn into something else computer wise, well then things need to change with DAWs too. And it will eventually. In the future ppl will laugh and say how old fashioned and simple the computers were back in the old days. Maybe they will be like in Star Trek. You just say to the computer what to do e.g. cut the 400 hz with 4 db and narrow q.

I wouldn't want to run my DAW on a small screen, with mobile hardware which isn't up to the task.
Get something like Monark, or Oberhausen, try to run a couple of instances on such a device, drop some NI Dirt or Raum on it, and we'll talk. None of the mobile SoC is remotely capable of that. Even laptops are mostly not a match to what a 1.500 to 2.000 € desktop PC can perform.
Maybe in 10 or 20 years. But then you'll have the same issues with the small screen as well, if you want or need something portable.
Oh, and I wouldn't want to use trackers either.

A good desk and chair, full size monitor, mouse and keyboard are more ergonomic for me than those small devices.
If you're to believe Youtube, 90% of producers make their music in coffee shops, at the beach or on top of mountains, but I'd guess a majority still prefer something that at least resembles a studio, even if it's in a bedroom.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care
