There must be a working way to do this, I have a bunch of audio / instrument / group channels, and I want to add an effect at insert position 1 for them all. I saw someone say Shift + Alt will do it, but that doesn't work. Is there an easy way to do this if needed, instead of manually having to add it channel by channel ?

It's Cubase 10.5 btw.

Have you tried selecting / grouping the channels you want & just dragging the FX to one of them?

Open up your mixer, select all your channels and enable Q-Link (either by holding alt+shift or clicking the Q-Link button at the top of the mixer), select the insert spot and pick your plugin.

"Shift Alt" will do this, but you need to hold it while selecting. Much easier is to activate and then deactivate button Q-Link.

Select all target channels in mixer. Activate Q-Link. Go to to 1st insert of any selected channel. Choose target VST effect. After 1-2 seconds freeze you will observe said effect added to all selected channels. Deactivate Q-Link.

Q-Link works for many parameters and will synchronize changes between selected channels.
"Shift Alt" activates Q-Link temporarily while holding.

It's Waves NLS I want to add, it doesn't work the same way when grouping, supposed to be per channel.

Thanks chaps, that's perfect. Works like a charm.
