Thanks. I'll check them out. Most interested in the Crush Pack. I think their only effect I ever installed is Raum which I have quite enjoyed.chk071 wrote: Wed Jun 02, 2021 11:24 am Upgrading from K11 is good stuff. Also check out the Crush Pack, and the Mod Pack, which are new for you as well, I think.

+1, also freak is quite useful. More in general, the mod and crush pack are quite underrated in my opinionLoveEnigma18 wrote: Wed Jun 02, 2021 5:03 pm+1chk071 wrote: Wed Jun 02, 2021 4:12 pm Dirt (Crush Pack) is pretty awesome. My go to distortion these days.![]()

Gr6 added almost all of the effects NI sells as VST, many of which are only available in the ultimate versions of Komplete.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Agreed, so cool to see it all there. I'm very happy with 13, I think the SOS is a fantastic price for everything it includes - had to wait a long time sure, but worth it.
There was this guy (forget his name) that did just about every incredible classic rock tone (floyd, zep, jimi etc) preset a long time ago in GR5 - it was just about perfect to the recording. I have to go find him again and see if he's started making stuff for 6.

He praised GR6 in a comparison video:

yes, I updated that which does obviate a number of advantages to Komplete for me. I have never bought Komplete.mumpcake wrote: Wed Jun 02, 2021 8:02 pm Gr6 added almost all of the effects NI sells as VST, many of which are only available in the ultimate versions of Komplete.
At this juncture, the few things in the normal version I'm interested in would be a bargain at $199, but they aren't that compelling in the bigger picture. I have just about half of it as it is.
stupidly, of course I paid 99 for GR6 update. Actually my economy is catch as catch-can, I don't even want to shell out 49 right now, it was painless at the time.

Need opinions about Collector's Edition vs Ultimate.
I'm a K10U owner, and I'm gonna update during the sale, but I can't make up my mind between K13U and K13CE.
The price difference is €100 for Symphony Series, Cremona Quartet, Arkhis and Maschine expansions.
What are your thoughts about the orchestral stuff, ie Symphony Series vs Essentials, and Cremona Quartet. Are they any good?
I'm not at all a classical composer, but I like to use some orchestral stuff here and there. Currently own Spitfire Albion One + BBCSO Discover, and Ableton Live 11 Suite for those kind of sounds. I miss some good solo strings banks, so Cremona Quartet could be a nice addition. But is it really nice?
And maybe some words about Maschine expansions for a non-Maschine user? Overall quality/usefulness?

Don't know about their new orchestral stuff but their Essentials range in K12U was pretty bad. I much prefer my Spitfire libs to that. But things might have changed for the better with their latest stuff.EdSfer wrote: Thu Jun 03, 2021 5:14 pm

Expansions - for additional 100€ you do get a lot and you don't lose all that much of you don't have Maschine, only projects (which are fine for quickly demoing stuff but not essential imo). Kits are all duplicated in Battery format anyway.
I don't buy them for 49€, they're on sale sometimes for half that but for extra 100€ you get roughly 20 of them. For 5€ each they're a steal.
That said, I won't upgrade from 12U.

Thanks for your input soulata
So, basically, Maschine expansions alone would justify the money.
It will be difficult to resist Collector's Edition (it was already, but I was hoping someone would hold me back from doing it
)
Anybody uses/likes/hates Cremona Quartet?

The orchestral series is pretty disappointing even in their full versions. The strings from Audibro are the least bad.
The Cremona Quartet is a strange one. They're very playable, a lot of people didn't like the vibrato but I got on okay with that. The big problem though is that by doing all their phase-aligning tricks, they timbre has become a bit sterile and lifeless. Good for layering, not so good for upfront stuff.
Arkhis though is fabulous. Terrific textures.
