According to this video these compression plugins rock. And I can agree with that. But are there more freebies that do an awesome job ?

Basically fircomp and TDR comps are your best bet as far as freeware goes. Also, check out Airwindows stuff. Other than that, don't forget to master your stock DAW plugins because that's what you're going to use most of the time.

Yes, the free TDR comp, the Klanghelm freebies (really good sound, but not as flexible as the inexpensive full versions) and FirComp should cover all basic compression needs.

I also really like the free TLS 1295 LEA Compressor for opto style compression:

Let me guess.. you are pimping your youtube channel here with these posts (you had already one for distortion/saturation).

As mentioned, Klanghelm's DCIA3 is one of my favorite compressors for subtle parallel compression and it's free (e.g., 30% mix, -3 db) with "Deep" and "Relaxed" enabled. TDR's Kotelnikov is another top favorite

For me it is Input at Max, dual mono, negative, then mix knob. Smashing Sound.

It's not my channel, I'm an engineer, not a video editor. I just like this channel and the way this guy is presenting his stuff and choices for plugins in a different way than others do.

But I also like this channel, even though it's clickbait
