Big changes in this one: the History tab has been removed, instead you can access previous and next states using the new 'undo' and 'redo' arrows. Past states can be stored in RAM, so your composition folder will not be cluttered with .rcCOMP.history folders. Of course the option to store past states on disk is also available.
I ask everyone to download and try this version, and report any issues you find.

Improvements:
  • History tab removed
  • Undo/redo arrows added to main composition. Right-clicking display previous/next states.
  • Past 'undo' states can be stored in RAM or on disk. The default is in RAM.
  • History complexity option removed
  • 'Preserve Phrase Order' option added to Phrase Container
  • Moving phrases up/down is possible in the Phrase Container
  • 'Render Motive With Variations' menu item added to Melody Editor
  • 'Change Chords According To New Scale' option added to master track scale menu (Scale Inheritance) and other places
thank you a million times !!!! the preserve phrase order option is just what i needed

Post

You are welcome! :)
In the meantime the stable version v4.2 was uploaded too with "Preserve Phrase Order", if you prefer to use that.

Thanks,
Attila

RC using memory like it's stuck in a loop. If you close RC, it stays in memory as well..

this is the 4.2.3 version..

My system has 32 gigs ram and it reached 27 gigs when I killed it, and then had to end the task as well..

Hi,

v4.2.1 (standalone) - I notice in the Composition view that Ctrl-Z, which is bound globally to Undo, will undo the deletion of phrase (as will clicking the 'Undo last action' arrow).

However, in the Phrase Editor, clicking the 'Undo last action' arrow will undo the deletion of a note whereas Ctrl-Z will not.

If Ctrl-Z is globally to Undo, shouldn't the action be identical with clicking the 'Undo last action' arrow in all cases?

Hi,

re: "New MIDI Export setting: Embed 'Program Change' events in exported MIDI"

Where is this found?

Hi,

v4.2.1 (standalone) - I'm noticing that I can click in the Master Track dialog to regenerate it, but when I press "G" with the dialog open the regeneration does not happen.

RC - Generate Progression g 01.jpg

If I close the dialog I can do the regeneration by pressing "G'.

Experimenting further, I tried "T" with the dialog open, and it worked, and then after this "G" also worked. Hmm.

But from a new start, "G" definitely does not work here (with the dialog open) to begin with.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hi,

v4.2.1 (standalone) - For Master Track, Timeline, Phrase (others?) the setting for 'Hide/Show All Inspector Windows' does not work here to allow those windows (dialogs) to be close by keystroke. The only way I can close them is by clicking on the X at the upper left with my mouse.

You don't have master track focus when you open the inspector. If you range select the chords, then "G" will work. Meaning, click a chord, then shift click the last chord on the master track, then you can press "G".

Hi BlueGenes,

OK, good specifics there! Thanks.

FWIW though, if the mouse-click in the inspector can work (it does), couldn't the keystokes in the inspector work exactly the same?

IOW, the knowledge of what was selected (what the target is) in the Master Track (etc.) is clearly available (or mouse-click could not work). So, couldn't the same knowledge be used to let the keystroke(s) work also?

I guess it's a feature request at this point ... <g>

No, because once you click the inspector, the inspector has focus, not the master track. G is associated to specific areas of focus in the work space and not the inspectors.

As an example, in the master track, G would regenerate the chords. But, if a phrase is selected and has focus, the regeneration method changes to phrases. It would have to keep track of what was selected before the inspector has focus. And that may fail too.. if you right click something before the master track for example, the play button as example.
