See how @anosou only mentions Reason devices and REs... I know the DAW will also get the high-res treatment in v12, but it sounds like it's because they have to, not because they want to.

That's exactly what I was saying earlier, I rarely go back and put things in folders (too lazy) but I like putting things on separate lanes within tracks, it has the tidiness of folders with some other benefits.MuzikFreq wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 5:35 pm I usually just toss all my drums to kong or redrum and create new midi lanes for each sound which essentially makes the drums in their own arrangement folder sort of.
I'm not saying I would say no to folders, but it certainly isn't a show stopper for me...jez, I stuck with Bitwig for 5 years waiting for comping and we still don't have native audio pitch correction, they are 2 things I use most often (and have been using Studio One for). Different Dev's have different priorities...but I feel RRP and HiRes are things they had to get done to stay relevant (as my teenage daughter would say!) and once that's done, the already very good DAW will get more attention.

It's a total bargain, IMHO. That said, I've been using Reason as my main DAW since Record came out, and while there are certainly frustrating things about it, I've never found another DAW that I like working in as much as I do core Reason standalone, so it remains my go-to DAW. Studio One is my second, though I still haven't upgraded to version 5 (still on 4.x)! I have a love/hate (mostly hate) relationship with Reaper, but thankfully it's free...SLiC wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 3:24 pm ...people may also have preconceived ideas about Reason (as I did) as a main DAW and that can be a difficult impression to change. I think most people (everyone with ears) thinks Reason makes great instruments and fx and Reason even when used just as a rack is an absolute bargain.

If we have to deal with cosmetic updates only in 12, I really wish I could make my own instrument categories in the browser, e.g. instead of having the instruments lined up alphabetically after Reason's internal stuff, I wish I could order them in categories like "analog modeling", "wavetable", "rompler". In my Orion days, it was a great help to be able to organize folders instead of having the same type of synths spread out with no overview.

As a workaround you can at least create custom folders in the browser and drag the instruments into them.TribeOfHǫfuð wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 6:33 pm I really wish I could make my own instrument categories in the browser,

As far as I have tried, I can only put patch-files into these folders, not the instruments with the mini GUIs lined up after "Built-in devices". It is the lane with the mini graphics I want to reorganize.

You can drag anything in to your faveroute list (the one with the star, not folders) including reason stuff, Re's and VSTs together- they all show with their snapshot.TribeOfHǫfuð wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 6:45 pm As far as I have tried, I can only put patch-files into these folders, not the instruments with the mini GUIs lined up after "Built-in devices". Man, you are right about the favorites. I just had my favorite filled with so many patches that I did not notice my units lined up with graphics in the end. Thanks, man. That surely makes it a worthy workaround.SLiC wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 6:57 pm You can drag anything in to your faveroute list (the one with the star, not folders) including reason stuff, Re's and VSTs together- they all show with their snapshot.

Yes, technically I did asked them for it, but I imagine they were racing & fighting for who's gonna do thisEnochLight wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 6:09 pmYou didn't get banned. Your account is deactivated. I just assumed you requested to have it deactivated?

Ah sorry. Wasn‘t in front of my computer when I replied. So I didn‘t recall the correct term. Favorites - of course.SLiC wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 6:57 pm You can drag anything in to your faveroute list (the one with the star, not folders)

It isn't for me either and I'd really use them for one thing only that is specific to Reason - if you add say 4 FX to a synth - which isn't unusual for my style of music - and start automating them, each FX will get its own device & automation lane(s). In any other DAWs those 4 lanes "belong" to the instrument track and you can easily hide them, when you move the instrument they move with it, etc.SLiC wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 6:06 pmI'm not saying I would say no to folders, but it certainly isn't a show stopper for me...
In Reason folding them is the best you can do:
(yes, I know I should be using Combinator for such cases, but it only exposes 4 parameters for tweaking and 4 for on/off, so I'd have to creatively constrain myslef; maybe I will in v12 that is supposed to revamp it)
EDIT: Gosh, Reason is beautiful! I keep forgetting about it

Nothing in R11 is a real show-stopper for me (not even the missing MIDI take-recording, but that only because I don't record a lot of MIDI as I usually record the audio of outboard keys instead) and yet I am furious that they seem to have more or less abandoned the DAW part of Reason - and I won't update to V12 if there's no DAW improvements.
And I really think voting with out wallet is the best thing we can do to steer them back on track in due time. KVRs three most vocal Reason supporters (Antic604, Enochlight and me) share more or less the same sentiment regarding R12, so why would we think we are just an irrelevant minority?

More beautiful in HD with zoom, they will do well with 12.antic604 wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 8:25 pm EDIT: Gosh, Reason is beautiful! I keep forgetting about it![]()

I mostly mean the tasteful design, element placement, even colours. None of that will get really better with HD, just sharper. I really wonder how DAW GUI elements will look like, especially the mixer, but going by everything I'm seeing it's last on the list and will receive the least attention.

Is it worth upgrading from 11 to 12? (in a nutshell)
