the only drivers problem I experienced on this system, and normally I wouldn't have to worry at all about such a thing, was a momentary hiccup where system audio wouldn't deal with internet streaming. I have no idea why, but it was turn the thing off and restart your computer. But these are unique drivers, the system seemed thrown for a moment.
Sorry, have to say I'm really glad not to be stuck on windows platform. I have an imperfect setup obviously, but dayum, some of this...

I have updated the Steinberg request with all that we tried this weekend. A refound would be really nice so I could give a try to Studio One or Bitwig or even continue with Reaper and save the money. However I cancelled the Paypal account that I used to buy the Cubase upgrade and the Upgrade from cubase AI to Pro 10.5 it was 1.5 years ago with the same Paypal account. I have no hopes to get a refound. Maybe Steinberg would be able to help and find the cause of the issue. I will post here news.

I'm on Mac, I haven't been burdened with that stuff since like the end of 2005.
you might want to see how much of your issue is replicated by people at steinberg dot net.
I'm not a fan of that forum, but some people like to help.

Paypal would 1) make you sort it via Steiny and only escalate after 10 days of that not working, & you must show right there you tried; and 2) they've given you what you paid for in their view, it not working on your system can't mean it doesn't work per se, ie., your problem not theirs.
their official support did nothing from my report past acknowledging getting a ticket, although note well i did not provide a series of steps to replicate because too many moves had the same result, it exhausted me to even conceptualize a proper bug report. (IE: 'click anywhere in Cubase and this happens' is about the size of it, and I did that one).

It did worked fine on my Windows PC (version 11), but I did my part first by doing most of the advices mentioned.
I wouldn't sell it if I haven't already bought M1 Air with Logic as I liked this combo much more than any Windows/DAW.
So, there must be something not solved in the OP's hardware/software that affects Cubase. Anyway, I would install version 10 (not 10.5) if I were in the place of the OP. I had no issue with version 10.
I don't compare with Reaper as Reaper is in its world! It's better to download some demos of Live and S1 and compare to them!

Thank you. I will install Cubase 10 to see. So you could solve the issue in your PC but you had already bought a Mac?EnGee wrote: Sat Jun 05, 2021 8:30 pm

Well, I still have my PC (with Ryzen 5800x and 32GB ..etc) and I love it. I still have Bitwig (current), Live 10 suite and Studio One Pro v5 (besides Reaper and FL Studio). It is for work mainly but also for music experiments and gaming. I have the best of the two worlds now

Another thing i noticed is that Reaper can handle Instrument-Plugins with long release settings much better than Cubase. I tried Halion Sonic 3 with that Combi-Sound "Antares" which can kill your Asio-meter in Cubase by hitting several chords again and again, Asio meter goes nearly 80% (8-core Ryzen 1700, no problems with that latency mon). The same patch in Reaper is telling me 4% !!! And Halion Sonic and Cubase is the same manufacturing isnt it ???? So thats what i meant with "uber-performance". Another candidate for killing your Asio Meter in Cubase are sometimes those Izotope Plugins like Ozone and the Restore-Plugins from the RX-Series, i think they offering "zero-latency" with the new versions 9 or something , but also some people using this are having high asio-spikes whereas Reaper has no problem at all with those plugins. I think its about time that Steinberg delivers a new Asio System that blows the competition out of the water , they are Asio Masters aren't they ? well you could think that, doesnt mean they are willing to change something , instead they are telling you that your system is faulty or your plugins are the culprit. Their "customer support" needs an overhaul as well, getting worse and worse (f.e. 3 weeks no answer...) . Maybe they have too much money? Dunno.

I have made a test with FL Studio and the same plugins get 60% of the system. Quite bad, however even better than Cubase.
It seems that I have bet for three horses and two are sick --> Cubase and FL Studio.

This is plugin-dependent and has nothing to do with DAW's. What likely happened is that you used a plugin with like, 64 or more polyphony with long releases versus a plugin with with 8~ voices with long releases. The voices get reassigned once they reach their maximum polyphony.auron wrote: Sun Jun 06, 2021 6:54 am Another thing i noticed is that Reaper can handle Instrument-Plugins with long release settings much better than Cubase.

The way plug-ins run is certainly different in every DAW. Some probably have a kind of sandbox, others run the plugins in an extra thread, etc.
You can test DAW Bench and run the project under Cubase and Reaper (or other supported DAWs). I'm sure there are also numbers somewhere about what other users have tested.

One thing worth mentioning : Don't use Windows to update your graphics card drivers. Manually download the latest drivers from the graphics card manufacturer, and install these.mduke123 wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 9:15 pm I am going to try uninstall graphic card drivers and applications and install only the ones from Windows. I don´t have a clue how I am going to do this but I will try indeed ...

This is usually the first step every dev asks you to do when you have issues. And often the cure for many issues (i'm telling you from experience).
