What I should be able to do with Bitwig on my computer

one thing I'm going to try myself, having a thought for a minute, is turn off graphics switching when I work on music.
"RGB colour profile" AFAICT it's all RGB on that machine, the default must be.

if you mean by 'restore' restore from Time Machine, yeah, it's probably not going to do a lot. I'm having mystery issues too (I can still more or less function with tol'able latency, more instability than performance) and I took a half-hour to update to 15.7. didn't help much either

I am now running 16 Equator2s and 6 string machines as a test and so far so good. after changing to RGB. This is possibly the most VSTs I have run at one time! and probably never to be repeated.antic604 wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 5:27 pm Have you tried running it in low resolution and/or RGB colour profile? Hopefully, this "trick" will continue working. Many thanks! If you come to Tarragona in Spain I will buy you a pint! And many thanks to everybody for their help!

I don't have Equator. Can you give examples using Vital or Diva (demo)? So I can compare with the M1 chip under Rosetta.
Oh ok! You seemed to have solved it.

huh, here there is only the RGB type of profile (a large number of them), or there's something I don't get.
it looks like you're about to experience some memory-pressure there, soon, but you probably don't have a real-world need for 16 instances of Equator 2. I loaded something which seemed to be designed to use every single feature to the max.
Not done very much with it, it was all turning things off in the patch, which was quite a task I didn't get far with.
Equator original I've worked for long stretches of time with, serious MPE, and my system, that same system performed rather well with.

The RGB thing has helped a lot but still, the computer slows down but less at least. I think it might be down to overheating especially as we're coming into summer now in Spain. I've got a cooling fan base and I'll see how that pans out.

Well, I spoke too soon, although the RGB thing did make a difference. I ran Vital with the Actuator preset and duplicated the tracks until I ran into problems. I got up to five and it was going OK and then I tried to change the preset and everything ground to a halt.EnGee wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 9:39 pm I don't have Equator. Sometimes it does not help to find out what a system can not do. I'd advice to just move on. Be aware there is always a ceiling of what a system can handle. Use plugins & patches that are less demanding.

Thank you for the details. I'll try Vital soon under Rosetta and report back. I also will try a native synth such polymer, so we isolate Bitwig from other 3rd party plugins.Matspan wrote: Tue Jun 08, 2021 8:45 pmWell, I spoke too soon, although the RGB thing did make a difference. Ok, so I tried Vital but I couldn't find that preset (I have the plus edition), so I tried with the first preset "A happy ending of the world". I could run 11 instances without a problem and I could stretched that to 14. With 15 and 16 instances it begin to overload.
I tried with Polymer (Berlin Duo) and I could reach 14 instances. Now, I've played a chord of three notes and with Bitwig 4 beta 2 (native Apple Silicon), but Vital was under Rosetta while Polymer is of course native.
I find it very reasonable and good result. I haven't tested Bitwig under Windows/PC yet, but I might just update this thread with brief result.

And just for completion, I tested the same synths/presets on my Windows PC with the same audio interface ...etc. The difference though is the sample rate which is 64 in Windows vs 128 in OS 11.4.
I could run 22 instances of Vital (with chord of three notes) and 20 instances of Polymer:
