That's one hidden feature I'm unhappy about!
Yeah, since it is the first time it ever happened, I expect they will correct how Bitwig deals with it. Hopefully whatever server went down doesn't do that again, but if so, for sure it should deal with it better.

When I reopened Bitwig, it recovered the 3 projects I had open when the issue arrived. So in this case, nothing lost. But it was for sure disconcerting. I was working on my laptop at the time. I keep my main audio computer offline, so I could have still used Bitwig there.

PieBerger wrote: Wed Jun 09, 2021 12:13 pmI have good saving habits, but I'd be miffed if I lost even 5 minutes work after being kicked out of an active session, using software that I'm supposed to own and have unlimited access to. No amount of best practice at the user's end gets around this.
As I said, I hope they'll fix it.

Meanwhile perhaps "off-line activation" (that's at the bottom of your account) can prevent this? Also, I really have to test this, because I've worked in Bitwig many times without internet access (business trips, holidays, etc.) and this never happened to me.
I'd have to double check the thread/s again to be sure, but I'm fairly certain some users in the FB group were still affected, even though they authorised Bitwig offline (but had an active internet connection at the time of the outage).
Yeah, it doesn't matter how you authorized, only whether you have an active internet connection.

So how does this work, really?

I never did any off-line authorisation but I just disconnected my computer from Internet, reset it and launched Bitwig and it works as normal, projects open and can be saved, etc.

It never happened in 6 years....
That’s a useless observation IF this has happened due to a new system recently implemented for v4 and on.

Who knows....

Btw, going into Demo mode isn’t new either.

Can't remember how I authorized off line, but I do have an account. That said, I tend to completely freak out on forehand if I have "to do something on teh net." Besides, all government sites give me a virus warning.

It affected also people on 2.x and 3.x, so I've no idea where you got that "theory" from...

So I assume I'm safe on 1.3.16
And I stand corrected.

That’s the reason for my theory antic.
If they changed the system it will effect everything and until we hear from them any theory it’s on the table.

I meant what sort of "new system recently implemented for v4" you're talking about?

Do you have some inside knowledge, because I don't think anything changed on user's end, at least nothing obvious?

Not at all. The post is actually quite short for reading too much into it :D
