I am trying to find out how the heck to display the secondary format of the timeline or what it even does. The manual says nothing about it. In my DAW (studio1) I have the option to enable a secondary time ruler which shows minutes and seconds, in addition to the primary that shows beats. This is super helpful for new composers because it makes it more intuitive to put what is in my head on the tracker. The Timeline in Rapidcomposer looks like it has some kinda functionality like this built in, because in the Timeline inspector it lets me choose a time format (Min:Sec:Thou) for the secondary format... but I can't see any way to make it actually display in the main window... all I see are beats. I am not even sure what the point of the secondary format selection option is, since it doesn't seem to display anywhere. Or am I missing something?

The secondary format (time or timecode) can be displayed together with the bar position, but the timeline does not offer a time lane at the moment.
If you right click on the bar position, you can choose to display both the bar position and timecode:

Thanks,
Attila

Thank you Attila for the helpful reply! RC is a great app and we all appreciate how much work and thought you've put into it.
I know it is probably low on the list of priorities, but a time lane would be a great add.
Also, have you considered adding something like a Lyric lane, maybe per-track? I am not really sure how people commonly develop vocals using RC... I was considering having a placeholder instrument to set a guideline vocal melody, and it would be great if there was a lane to add lyric text in line with the pitch changes. I can make this a separate forum heading if you prefer.

This is an absolutely good idea, and I am planning to implement a lyrics track for a long time.
I have not thought of adding a lyrics lane per-track, but it sounds more logical than having a global lyrics track. That way a melody could be created based on the number of syllables, and the syllables could be displayed where the melody notes start... good idea
I will do my best to add a time lane for the next update, or much sooner in beta versions. I'll send you the beta download links in PM if you wish (there is no new beta version at the moment, v4.2.0 is the latest version).
Thanks,
Attila

Any news of anything to do with the variation tool or fixing the apply melody or shape in the next beta update.
Any news of anything for those that just use RC with custom phrases.
Would like to make a video series on what you can do with custom phrases as this is something that I don't see on Youtube and I feel it would definitely be beneficial.
The most viewed video on YouTube when it comes to composing music with Rc is the one to do with EDM music .
Just another reason why having a variation tool and the other elements fixed is important as I can make a video showing these features being used with EDM music as well as others
and even though I don't know anyone who does EDM in this forum there is clearly a demand for it when it comes to people that are considering using or buying RC.

Hi Attila
Been trying to get hold of the developer to buy this program.
This is actually what's needed in RC ,if you're able to fix the apply shape and melody then that would give you the same type of results you see in this device.
