It has begun...Reason 3 is close at hand!!

I am suprised that this has not yet been a topic. Or I am suprised I am to stupid to find it.
A week or so something started to happen at the props site. One of the 'blogs' or as they call it a '.plan' by a Dan E. began to have these numbers posted each day. Everyone was speculating on what they could mean.
Now they are hiding small .gif images around their site. They are some sort of puzzle. Nobs, buttons, meters, doo-hickeys are being shown.
Reason 3 is at hand...
They are masters of creating buzz.
I am sure it will knock our socks off.
Some people at reasonstation.net (not .com!!)
have put part of it together.

It hasn't been posted because this site "supports open standard audio plugins", not closed, proprietary software.
I was going to start a thread, but Reason threads on K-v-R tend to be flamebait. Maybe not every thread, but at least most of them, as far as I've seen.

People use reason??
(JUST kidding gents)
I think it's fantastic to be honest, just wasn't 'for' me so to speak. You can always though use it to it's fullest then add rewire for other vst's in your host. So it's closed, but also not closed *so to speak*

Great program, can't wait to see 3.0. The puzzle thing... well, they're the Props! That's how they are. :-D
As for discussing it at KvR -- this is a stretch, I admit, but -- can anyone think of any software whose name is more frequently mentioned in connection with the abbreviation "VST"???
*cringe*
Metric gazillions of posts at the Props forums, bare minimum.

You don't know how ironic that phrase is!!!h2ogun99 wrote:Reason 3 is at hand...

I'm expecting Aodix to be the best music program out there, but you can guarantee that no matter how good it is, the magazines will completely ignore it, and the sheep that only buy what they read in magazines will frown on it, and it will never receive the praise it deserves.
Whereas Reason 3, despite still not offering VST support (how many other music programs are this closed?) will be hyped up and praised beyond all recognition, by all the mags.
Give me just about any VST compatible host any day, you can do a hundred times more.
If VST didn't exist, Reason would be incredible, I'd be using it, and singing its praises. But it came about ten years too late...

But it's not a host and never was - it's more of a plugin studio (via rewire). I can't wait to see what emerges - I've been close to getting Reason many times and maybe this will tempt me. It has to have audio ins though (VST support I'd rather it didn't have except if was for it to run as a VSTi like Storm and FL Studio can)

Yes it was never designed to be a host. It also from what I understand is so well coded, it doesn't crash. Again I don't own reason so don't take this as fact.

Best start the thread in Everything Else forum, becomes relatively resistant against the no-VST flames there. Consider it like you would a guitar. Lots of guitar threads have passed our way.Warmonger wrote:It hasn't been posted because this site "supports open standard audio plugins", not closed, proprietary software.
I was going to start a thread, but Reason threads on K-v-R tend to be flamebait. Maybe not every thread, but at least most of them, as far as I've seen.
Reason tends to inspire slavering loyalty in some of its fans, like Fruity, trackers, Orion, etc. So the threads tend to veer towards the archetypal Internet chest-beating battle.
I assume that those puzzle pieces are actual size, rather than size-reduced?

Personally, I'm sick of the Props. I own Reason 2.5. Actually I got 1.0 then 2.0 then 2.5. But I hardly touch it anymore. Its been so long since the last update I cant even believe it. Tracktion and VST's are a much deadlier and complete set up for my needs. I'm gonna wait to see if Reason 3.0 blows my mind. If it doesnt I'm selling this thing. I dont even know what I'm expecting after roughly 2 years without even a hint of the new features.

That would definitely be nice to see. VST hosting just wouldn't work well, given the internal design, but run as VST would be well-received.aMUSEd wrote:It has to have audio ins though (VST support I'd rather it didn't have except if was for it to run as a VSTi like Storm and FL Studio can)

Some folks on the General Board have been assembling them. They look 1:1 to me. Not much yet but some interesting differences are becoming visible.shamann wrote:I assume that those puzzle pieces are actual size, rather than size-reduced?

Well if you do, and the price is right, and there's a decent upgrade path, I might be the one to buy it
