There's not many good cards out there. Even if they were expensive, they use too little bandwidth and their connectivity lacks (still uploading, bedtime).



In this tut; I show you how to shop for the real deal and what to look for so that your keyboard, or microphone array, or live synth, or even mixing sequencer can hook up to your computer at a significant enough speed in a reliable way.

This is a long video, but I show you what to look for, what gets better results and what terms to utilize. I even show a few possible workarounds that could potentially get your more speed than anything else.

It'd be nice to be able to find the same calibre for a 19pin connection for the tower's front. Not very convenient. But there are deals to be had.

Good points, but for multi ports as long not using all the connections at the same
time, the speed should be ok.
Some cards with more ports have dual controllers and the old Sonnet Allegro Pro
had 4 chips, one for each port and the Fresco Logic FL1100 chip is/was one of the best.

A very important point is compatibility, as you can see here RME has the *best* USB
implementation by far, but they are very picky about the USB port/chipset/driver.
I do not know how the situation is today, but some time ago basically only the cards
with Fresco Logic FL1100 or NEC/Renesas µPD720202/uPD720201 chips
were 100% good, one example at

But looks like the newer ASMedia chips ASM3242 in the cards you recommended
now works well too.

Well, My favorite is a pcie 2.0 card made by silverstone. I omitted that result however because it is version 2. But then, still good for a pcie 2.0 connection, like on My newer used mobo.

But yes, the point I was making is for them to be used all at the same time. I'd meant for a live performance, rather than mere utility - something important.

Here's some interesting facts about PCIE cards that are designed for PCIE version 3.0. They seem to be bottle necked with the amount of connectivity and bandwidth that they can provide.

So, in PCIE 2.0 you might be utilizing all 4 PCIE lanes for two connections, wherein by using PCIE 3.0; you can only utilize 2 lanes, making buying an x4 card a useless endeavour.

What does this mean? It means that though an ASMedia Chipset might be faster than a VIA chipset, you'll be hardpressed to find anything newer than the 3141 model in circulation, and being used commonly amidst products sold on Amazon.

So, you should do the homework to ensure that the chipset which you paid good money for is actually designed for PCIE version 3.0.

Here's a pcie 3.0 model on aliexpress. It supplies only two usb3.1 ports and that kind of bandwidth is impressive, especially being that it relies on the nimble asm3142. Too bad not pcie 4.0 however.
Nice that it uses the more recent sata power connection rather than the aging molex. Hard to cater to, with the newer modular psu's. Just as hard to get matching molex splitters furthermore. I recommend https://moddiy.com for that sort of thing. I was even able to find asus sata3 cables which is cool.
