It's the main thing I loved about FL Studio. Any way to have a very similar experience with other software, independent of DAW?

I'm not sure what Patcher does, but I see Blue Cat's PatchWork mentioned - it's an amazing piece of software, so hopefully it covers the functionality you're looking for.

none of these get close to flstudio's patcher
patcher is way better currently.
couldn't find any 3rd tool that can get close to it.

Its a crash fest in the area of being completely unusable. Never got updates since ancient times. At least on Mac. To the contrary Element works nicely and is virtually free now. Its open source as well…

MUX is the clear winner here, has both FE/BE parts :) macros can be assigned with drag and drop, and the only wrapper which able to send 'space' key to the host from focused opened VST subwindows (so can start/stop the host DAW)

MUX is the only thing Ive seen that can really do the same magic Patcher can in FL.
I havent seen Patchwork since like v1 tho..

mux doesn't support vst3 and miss few other features and some GUI tweaks to make it worth the price of it.
it is pretty stable but all my plugins are vst3 so...
